I ordered and received this art a few months ago, but I didn't post it earlier on ao3, as it doesn't relate to any of my stories, and it would be a sin to hide it further

James is strong enough to drag Sirius away (to Quidditch practice, to run through the forbidden forest, to the kitchens when he gets hungry, etc), when he's too lazy and refuses to move

He doesn't know yet that Sirius will follow him anywhere

Sirius pretends to resist James' requests, curious about what James will do (in fact, he knows that James will just throw him over his shoulder and drag him away, and Sirius is waiting for exactly that)

He doesn't know yet that James is ready to carry him in his arms every day, even if there is no reason for it

Sirius would read a book about vampires and jokingly turn to James and say “I want to suck your blood” and James who was not 100% paying attention to what he was hearing not processing Sirius was joking would just say “yeah okay” and hold his arm out and pass him something sharp, wouldn’t stop reading his own book whilst doing so and Sirius’ brain would just short circuit

marauders fans face lost sight of what makes a character special. if you decide that every single character possible is in a giant friend group, they're all animagi, they're all secretly the most powerful people ever, they all secretly have the exact same political beliefs, they all have no biases or secrets or even interests or pet peeves, you aren't "making canon better" you're just taking a complex character and flattening it with a hydraulic press. people are interesting??? they make mistakes and find their classmates annoying and have weaknesses and fears??? why is that so hard to hear???

like no, james fucking potter who was willing to give up his life fighting death eaters would not be friends with barty or evan. no, just bc sirius and regulus were brothers does not mean they necessarily had to have liked each other. and just bc all of the marauders were apart of the same friendship group does not mean they all cared about each other the same amount. (they canonically did not.)
