I'll start by posting a comic I'm working on, an AU of Hollow Knight: Silksong. It all began as a silly idea and ended up becoming something I wanted to turn into a comic. You can also see this comic on my Twitter account!
I'll keep working and hope to post more drawings soon!

If it turned out Lace did not also have eternal youth, what would Hornet do?
She'd be upset but still I dont know if she would do smth against her morals for it, I actually think lace would be more upset by the unfairness bc she wants to live more. Hornet would try some things and then assuming they dont work i think lace would probably take a while to try and find a way to stay alive before basically realizing shes lwky wasting her life and then try and spend some more time with hornet. very conflicting emotions. jealous that hornet will exist after lace dies. curious if she'll see phantom. mortality would be hard for lace to reconcile i think, but i mean,, she would have to eventually i think at the very least she would eventually try for hornet/everyone else who will live longer. but considering that soul is important to the longevity of life i think lace would still live a very long life anyways.
Random question!!
For anyone dipping their toe into writing a fanfic for their first time, what would your advice be to them, if you have any?
I think i have a few pieces!! first of all, here is a post i made and then here is advice i think is good, and then theres plenty more you can find online. The number one is that no matter what anyone else says, fanfiction is real writing but therefore is something that can be improved upon using the same methods as any other form of writing - thesauruses (my favorite), research, plot guides, and ofc reading other published books (please read it truly helps a lot!!!). treating it like original writing with a guide (the original story) and then letting myself take whatever route i want has alleviated a lot of stress i think i was putting on myself for accuracy. However, it is also important to remember that what you are writing is fanfiction and can be treated as such - you can under develop the characters, for example, because people already know and love them, you can wield fairly large bits of dramatic irony without too much explanation, and you do not have to create a lore world from scratch, but instead subvert preexisting lore to create something new. so since the world is pre-established, this is why a lot of people tend to focus on more emotional aspects because thats whats left to tell. however, there is no problem with coming up with your own lore!! this is where you start to treat fanfic like an original work.
its also very important to be able to develop and work with the characters BUT also be able to have them do things on their own and branch out. people complain about ooc but its only when a character is poorly ooc that its bad; if you give them proper motivation and emotional development then its not that way. if you want a character to act a certain way, then ask what circumstances would make them act that way?? how does their past force them into certain routes and actions?? motivation will always stem from their personalities. my favorite book on the subject is the art of dramatic writing by egri, he breaks everything down so well.
finally, write about something or a premise you're passionate about!! have an opinion, use your story to back it up and make a point about it!! make your characters make genuinely bad choices that arent like.... justifiable. ones that are interesting and unique and fascinating and have consequences. the initial idea may be something other people dismiss, but thats where the writing comes in - convince them that its interesting! the most original and interesting idea in the world can be killed by bad writing, while the most boring and dull can become a classic.
I simply must ask you your thoughts on the newest episode of The Vampire Lestat because holy hell was that the best one so far.
i definitely think it was more a return to form!! i've been neutral/uncertain about the previous episodes. i do think this season certainly does not live up to the high standards of the previous seasons, but its not the worst thing ive ever seen just disappointing in comparison. ok i will put my critiques first and then what i liked (spoilers under cut, obviously these are my opinions)
my biggest critique is the one ive seen floating around already, which is that this season feels very directionless. we are meandering through hours upon hours of lestat sort of just breaking down, which isnt really a plot i fear, and whatever vague plot is going on in the background, it doesnt feel like lestat knows whats going on which is bad because hes our only view into this world, if he doesnt care why should we? he has no motivation to care, so why should we? meanwhile armands up to.... something?? but he still wasnt like... doing anything, just standing around making weird comments and apologies. ik he technically was but its hard to explain, it felt like he was just there. same with daniel. louis is sometimes mentioned (hes my favorite so bias there). i dont really care if theres incest in my shows but i felt like it was weirdly handled. like... they focused on the incest more than the presumed actual plot of the season. imo at this point, i almost feel like they should have made the season about armand or even stick with louis. there was just so little direction.
also so far have not liked claudias progression!!! i appreciated her rant at louis, but it honestly felt too... idk. random? even tho i think its justified, i think its been too long since the last season for it to feel like a natural continuation of her whole. and then louis and lestat gave it zero reflection afterwards, louis was literally like well that's that and im not one of his apologists, ik how he is, but it felt really out of character for someone who has been so devout and obsessed with her memory - like, we get nothing?? his entire image of her and how she is has just been irrevocably shattered (in a very one-dimensional way on claudias part, but i digress) and all hes got is a shrug. granted, there is one more episode + he got decapitated but i still feel like there wont be enough time to unpack claudia to the degree i would be satisfied with. claudia spends her whole life getting pushed to the side and now the writers do it. yay.
that being said, i did like her rant even if i didnt like the surrounding bits, louis and lestat both treated her poorly and i think people forget that a lot. also loustat!!!! i think the lack of loustat so far this season has been a massive weak point that the writers included for some reason. like - louis felt incredibly unrepresented in lestats past up until now. im perfectly content reading between the lines, but the writers have to throw a bone sometimes. but we got some now!!! i think they were getting to a good place at last. very curious about their decapitation + why it happened! very worried that we're about to get a half-assed resolution though.
i also do like lestats flippancy, even if i think it needed to be done better. i think the depictions of his trauma are decent, i like where he realized his incestuous sexual abuse last episode and vomited. i will discuss the incest really quick though: im not one of the people that minds it, like i said. i think it can be an interesting depiction of trauma and obsession and that fanbases are hypocritical with what they romanticize. 'cannibalism as a metaphor for love' mfs will flinch at the tvl incest depiction. i actually think of all the things in this season that were handle poorly, the incest wasnt one of them. i just think there should have been way more loustat because ultimately thats what people want to see!!!! that was THE emotional arc of the first season!!! i think tvl writers fancied themselves good enough to replicate s2 where lestat was barely mentioned until the end, but you have to understand (and they didnt) that lestat violently and literally haunted the narrative!!! louis hallucinated him, him and claudia took refugee in a place lestat used to love, they are on the run for murdering him, and then the entire final emotional arc is about lestat!! louis in tvl by comparison is a pale footnote in the rich tapestry of lestats trauma. its.... hm. i also question the decision to spend so much time on nicky, when i would think whatever relationship lestat and armand had together would be more relevant?? esp since armand appears to want revenge?? but past armand gets like two lines in favor of nicky and more lestat incest. idk!!! idk.
i did like the most recent episode, but its sort of trying to fix massive, massive flaws and underbaked character arcs and i simply think theres not enough time. and with the final episode being the same length as all the other episodes, i fear a lot of plot points wont get wrapped up. certainly the show is being carried by the amazing skill and talents of the star cast. sam reid is trying his absolute best with a subpar script and i really appreciate that about him, he's really carrying all my fascination with the show because hes so interesting to watch. jacob anderson as well is phenomenal, when they occasionally remember to write a scene for louis this season! delainey, eric, and assad have all be fantastic too, and i do think jennifer ehle was a great addition, and i think the visuals are mostly good and i think there are interesting plot points, i just wish they managed to make things cohesive! this has certainly been the weakest season. i will watch the final episode though and will reserve my final, true judgement for after that.
