Psycho in a Hood: An Interactive Slasher Game

“What if the maniacs were never caught and only death caught up to them before their actions ever did? What if the rabbit was never chased by the wolf but the very definition of an uncivilized human? What if you were the rabbit?”

Psycho in a Hood is still in early development so all warnings may not be here. Warnings: Graphic violence, acting on impulses, gun violence, pyromania/arson, knives, blood, sadism, stalking, implied s/a.

Disclaimers: This game is intended as a psychological horror so it is meant to put you behind the eyes of a victim to a killer or the insanity of the killer. Go into this carefully and with sympathies to the victims as it will be based around actual crimes that have happened. There is of course lore to every single character as well and everything might not be 100% accurate as I do not have the license or proper education for psychology. S/N: The use of psycho in this game is disconnected from all myths the label “psycho” people use to attach to those with ASPD. I do not support any hatred people might have for those with ASPD.

Summary: A meticulous killer with no pattern, no motivation, no line all of a sudden starts killing people in this little Alaskan town as the people try to survive the onslaught and the police try to capture them.

“Can’t. I’m spending my off duty time doing further work on the case.” I replied after a moment of thought.

Noah tilted his head like a confused dog just happy to be there, little friendly smile still on his face.

“When you’re not even gonna get paid for it?”

“This is a murder case. I don’t care for the money.”

My response only made Noah’s smile pick up again.

“What a nice guy you are.” He complimented me, which I honestly couldn’t tell if he was being serious or not.

“Decent. Everyone should be decent enough to wanna find some killer, especially when it could be any of us that they come after next.” I responded, my attention on my computer, taking a few notes of the files to better sort through my thoughts.

“So we’re looking at multiple?”

I suppressed my frustration that came with the question. I had no idea how to answer it. This case frustrated me so much because there was nothing in these papers that got me anywhere. I might check out the crime scenes myself.

“We can talk about it afterwards.”

“That an invitation to your off duty, duty?” Noah asked with a cheeky smile.

“No. I need to focus then, just like I do now. Talk later.” I said firmly.

“Alright, alright. I’ll leave you be, I’ll speak to you when we’re both free, yeah?”

“Mhm.”

I sat at my desk going through some recent murder files along with photos of evidence taken at the crime scenes.

Focusing on my job however was unusually very difficult, maybe because my coworker currently sat leaned against my desk, trying to convince me to go on a date with him.. again. If he didn’t do this every time we were working, I might just say yes, but whether it would be out of genuine attraction or flattery is beyond me and I don’t want to break his heart. If he even is flirting out of attraction for me, maybe he’s doing it for fun.

Fuck, at this point I’m getting paid to think about what my coworker’s intentions with me are. I need to be doing work, especially if I or anyone else wants these killers locked up.

“Okay. Noah-”

Noah’s smile picked up a bit from amusement at seeing himself overwhelm me.

“Want me to leave you alone?” Noah had interrupted.

I sighed tiredly.

“That’d be greatly appreciated.”

“Alright, after work though?” Noah asked.

I thought about it, silently fidgeting with my pen as I decided how to respond.

Psycho in a Hood was originally started on Quotev. 12th of October in 2023 as broken up oneshots before the game was made on Quotev, 28th of October in 2023. Eventually the game was moved to Plurk on the 12th of October in 2024 and rebooted. 18th of November in 2025 is when it was finally moved to Tumblr.

Inspiration:

Psycho in a Hood was lightly inspired off of the slasher movie, "Scream" made in 1996 for its concept idea. “Fractured” by Karin Slaughter was studied for portraying details and such correctly.
