@psychotic-psypport
be gentle with yourself today, the way you’d be with something precious and a bit fragile. because you are both of those things
Reminder that political figures, abusers, bigots and general bad people aren't "delusional", "brain-dead", "narcissistic" or "psychotic" for the horrible things they do.
They're assholes. Or arrogant. Or power hungry. Or abusive. Or bigoted. Or heavily biased. Or criminals. Or violent. Or aggressive. Or out of touch. Or genocidal. Or any other descriptive word for what they're doing that doesn't make an already stigmatised symptom any more demonised.
Do people realize delusional and psychotic are not terms that are limited to psychotic disorders and can be used in this way and it’s not offensive or all we all still too hypersensitive to use our heads
They are.. Literally medical terms. You said "psychotic disorders" yourself, you know, the medical terms previously mentioned. Not even archaic medical terms only used outside of that context anymore, these are terms still actively used medically. That is where these things come from. Sometimes using words like that is, in comparison to other struggles disabled folks face, benign. Sure, sometimes it's "not that deep" in how it's intended. But oftentimes using them in derogatory ways does actively contribute to the stigma against psychotic folks. You have plenty of other words to use.
There are more actively and currently important hills to die on when it comes to combating stigma outside of terms swung at politicians in anger. There are bigger fish to fry. Telling folks to stop calling people delusional will not stop systemic ableism from being so prevalent. But you know what? Maybe it's a nice thought to try and help folks be aware of how their words can affect some of society's most vulnerable. Maybe it's a small, easy thing you can do to make psychotic folks around you feel a little more comfortable.
But, you're not here for that. You're here to call people sensitive and laugh to yourself about it. This isn't so much of a reply for you as it is for others in the notes to see. Reminder for everyone scrolling the reblogs not to be like this guy. You can simply choose to make the world a kinder place, it costs you nothing.
you did something today, even if it was small. acknowledge it. your brain needs to hear you recognise your own wins
there will always be a calling with your name on it. always. maybe not today. maybe not next week. maybe not while you’re sitting in that uncomfortable posture staring at the your screen, disassociated, mourning the person you used to be at 17, back when the future felt ENORMOUS. but eventually something will tap you on the shoulder and you’ll have the epiphany: a book or a person. some city. could be the literal wind before a storm, a random stranger smiling. a patch of saturated light on the floor.
but eventually something will look directly at you, it’ll hold you by your face and lock eyes with you and in the most electric way possible scream at you: “YOU NEED TO GET UP. WE ARE NOT DONE YET”
stop fucking using the word psychotic to describe bad behaviour and violence already god fucking damn it
oh my god i'm so tired psychotic does not mean violent it does not mean angry or erratic. it refers to a person suffering from psychosis, a loss of touch with reality that includes hallucinations and/or delusions. psychotic people are not inherently violent and y'all need to understand how much stigma you create when you again and again incorrectly use the word psychotic without even thinking about it
would appreciate if non-psychotic people could reblog this
Waking up feeling like shit and giving myself grace like
peace and love on Earth..
eventually you realize you don’t want to die. you just don’t want to live the life you’re living. and slowly you try to create a life you want to live. just gotta start there.
no one needs to add “sounds fake but ok”, “no”, “well, not me”, “impossible”, etc. to this post. and i’d rather you not.
one day you think: I want to die.
and then you think, very quietly: actually. actually. I think I want a coffee. a nap. a sandwich. a book.
and I want to die turns day by day into I want to go home, I want to walk in the woods, I want to see my friend, I want to sit in the sun
I want a cleaner kitchen
I want a better job
I want to live somewhere else
I want to live

Intrusive Thoughts are unwanted thoughts or images that you find distressing and/or disturbing.

how to cope with them: https://www.betterhelp.com/advice/how-to/how-to-stop-intrusive-thoughts-and-live-your-life/
Remember, your intrusive thoughts aren’t who you really are, they’re not something secret inner-self you’ve hidden away. If it was who you really were, they wouldn’t be so horrifying
why is the best DID representation in media always accidental. the moment they try to do it on purpose its just the evil alter trope again but the moment theyre not trying its like wow. how did you manage to get that accurate accidentally?
this is actually true for a lot of neurodivergencies, schizophrenia, autism, adhd, ocd, bpd, npd, i could go on. but like. its a theme.
jokes to make after failure that aren’t self-deprecating:
I’m the best to ever do it
Nobody saw that (best if said loudly)
No one’s ever done it like me
I could be President/they should make me President
Behold, a mere fraction of my power!
The public wants to be me soooooo bad
I’m an expert in (thing you just failed at)
How could this have happened to god’s favorite princess?
Nothing ibuprofen and a glass of water cant fix
I’m being sabotaged
carrying on because you don’t have any other option but to go on and deal with whatever it is you’re dealing with is still a brave thing. even when being brave is your only option. it doesn’t make you weaker if some problems sometimes feel unbearable, just remember you don’t have to constantly carry everything on your own, and you can and should reach out for help, and doing so doesn’t make you any less brave
