Hey do you know what rumination is?
Rumination is probably the most common type of OCD compulsion, but I rarely see anyone talking about it. I've talked to multiple people diagnosed with OCD who didn't even recognize it as a compulsion.
Basically, if you have OCD you have terrible intrusive thoughts. They can be about anything, but common themes are fear of being a bad person, fear of hurting someone, fear of contamination. etc.
Rumination is when you get stuck in a spiral. Rumination is when you spend hours catastrophizing, overthinking, analyzing, telling yourself it's going to be okay.
I'll say it again:
Rumination is a compulsion.
Rumination is a compulsion, and that means you have to stop doing it.
I did ERP (exposure response prevention) for my OCD with a therapist! For 9 months! And it did help, but the idea didn't really click until I found this website a couple years later.
And Oh My God. It made things make so much more sense, and I was able to pull myself out of an episode even though I wasn't in therapy or on meds at the time.
Genuinely if you have OCD, or even if you suspect you have OCD, I'm begging you to read some of these articles.
Like this was genuinely life changing for me.
Here are some of the ones that were most helpful to me:

How to Stop Ruminating
ERP Exercises for Compulsive Rumination
What to Do When You're Triggered
the worst part about ocd and ocd-like tendencies is that you think hyper-analyzing your thoughts and constantly psychoanalyzing yourself will fix you but that's actually part of the disorder. it's the disorder. disordering.
Not all compulsions manifest in a physical way. Mental (hidden) compulsions aren't rare and they can be just as debilitating. Examples of mental compulsions include counting, suppressing thoughts, repeating words in your head, hoarding memories, neutralizing thoughts, replaying memories, questioning, praying, ruminating, rehearsing actions, reassuring yourself and many many more.
You can actually have just mental compulsions and no physical ones and still have obsessive-compulsive disorder.
speaking of spiraling. um. i'm wondering if i wasn't tested for ocd correctly or i didn't understand the questions when i was screened for ocd while getting tested for adhd (probably the 2nd option based off what i'm about to explain) bc i recently found out it's possible to have ocd without physical compulsions, mental compulsions are a thing as well and i think i have that. sometimes i spiral and can't stop myself from thinking & getting anxious about stuff not being in the correct order/way, both in terms of time/doing things & arranging items and it causes me a lot of distress. i also used to frequently have moments where i'd have extreme self hating thoughts that would be really hard to stop, and whenever my social anxiety is set off (like if i think i said/did something embarassing) that also sends me into a spiral that is hard to stop. and during all of these spirals i do always repeat certain things in my head to try stopping the thoughts and sometimes i can't stop them and have to give into the obsession, if whatever i'm obsessing over is possible to do/change.
also there are a couple physical things i do whenever i have these spirals but i think they might just be more anxious habits than compulsions? bc sometimes i do them outside these spirals too. idk.
anyways, idk if i should get tested again or not...
(ooorrr maybe all of this is just a combination of all my other mental issues. idk.)
i'm probably gonna be spiraling/anxious the rest of the day now awesome (/s)
honestly i need to start studying for the vtne and just get that done. i'll have more job oppurtunities if i do that
fuck idk if that job interview went well, i looked stupid af with some of the questions bc i wasn't prepared for them. also what i'm looking for is a vet tech/assistant job but they seem to wanna have me doing reception? which? idk about that i'm unsure. idk if i should take this job or not. but they might not even offer me the job (hoping they don't tbh)
