Here’s a run down… I adopted Sooty in December 2019. In the first couple months I noticed him developing coughing fits, and over time they’ve become more frequent and more severe. He has been through multiple rounds of anti-biotics and anti-virals, nothing has worked. My next hope is a BAL procedure, (Bronchoalveolar lavage), which is to collect a sample from the lungs for testing. This tests for feline asthma, as well as bronchitis, and other lower respiratory diseases. The vet has offered me a ‘bulk deal’ which also includes an Xray to check for any tumours and abnormal fluid accumulations. This bulk deal will cost me $1500 - $1800. The average lifespan for a cat with untreated feline asthma or bronchitis is severely decreased, and my dear old boy is already 12 years old. I would need this procedure done ASAP to ensure he gets the treatment he needs, and to be able to give him a long healthy life.
I’m on centrelink payments, and it’s incredibly hard to save money without a job. I’m trying my hardest but I’ve barely managed to save $100. Please, this is my last hope at getting my boy the help he needs.
