There are quite a few things they don't warn you about when you get diagnosed with cancer. The emotional toll it takes on you going through so many near death experiences in a such short time frame. The whiplash of blood counts fluctuating scaring you making you wonder "is this the week I die?" The post traumatic stress you get after it's all said and done lying awake freaking out at the smallest bit of moisture you feel in your nose afraid that it's a nosebleed when it's actually just a slightly runny nose. The worst though? People abandon you. There have been studies that show that people will leave their spouses if they are diagnosed with cancer. The disease on its own is isolating. You have to physically be away from people because of a lowered immune system, but it's also mentally isolating because people can't really sympathize with what you're going through. Even if you have a support system, you'll like feel alone in a few of the steps along the way. I'm just really tired and lonely.
