It’s not that deep man. Brotha just lookin to help lift another brotha up the best way he knows how. Some people find comfort and purpose in religion. Some people don’t.
Unless you’re talking about scammers Evangelists or Jehova's Witness. Those guys are pretty scummy.
As someone who’s had to sit through his grandmother’s coffin being used as a soap box by a pastor trying to put the fear of hell in me and my family during an emotionally vulnerable moment, no it be like that sometimes.
Protestant or Catholic?
I don’t know and frankly i wouldn’t care.
Ah. I ask because there is a very specific Catholic order that teaches that sort of rhetoric. I agree though, using someone's death to manipulate others is bad.
I just come from a more positive religious experience, where dissection and introspection is a key function of the philosophy, rather than dictation and mindless recitation.
Though i feel i should clarify that there’s a fine line between the average christians who will offer you their thoughts and prayers when your going through a tough time (its easy to tell they’re from a genuine place of well meaning and can mean about as much as “I’m here for you man”) and pastors who react like sharks smelling blood when around mourning people. (”I’m very sorry for your loss my child, by the by have you heard of a place called Hell? That’s where your granny didn’t end up because she was a good christian woman but remember, if you don’t praise god every sunday you won’t get to see grandma when you finally die!”)
How tf do Catholics promote the rhetoric if they legit already acknowledge that the moment you are born you are overcome with sin and you only get rid of that sin in purgatory? Like, they legit don't believe you get rid of sin in life, they believe that is an afterlife thing.
Christians believe that you aren't sinful from birth but must keep not being sinful throughout life or else you go to hell. Legit, I think you got it mixed up. Purgatory isn't hell.
I'm not remotely religious, but i feel the need to point out, as someone who was raised Catholic, that
1) Catholicism is a branch of Christianity. you can't really say that "all Christians think x" and in the same breath "all Catholics think y" because all Catholics are Christians
2) Catholics, at least where I'm from, were never taught that you are born full of sin and that you can't redeem yourself and go to heaven without first dying and going to purgatory. In fact I very rarely remember purgatory being mentioned at all. I do remember being told that no matter what you do throughout your life, if you suddenly accept god on your deathbed and decide to apologise for all your sins, you get a free pass to heaven
When I say when you are born I mean living through life, my mother was Christian while my father was Catholic. One of the biggest arguments they would constantly have is god dying for their sins.
When you accept god on your deathbed you don’t immediately go to heaven you have to wait in Purgatory before you go to heaven because Purgatory was the place where your sins would be cleared off. Infants themselves are considered pure and can’t go to hell.
maybe you're taught different things about Catholicism/ Christianity depending where you're from or who is teaching you. because to me the idea of waiting in purgatory is nonsense and as I said, Catholicism is a branch of Christianity so I'm not sure what your mum believes but it's strange to me that they would have arguments over jesus dying for their sins
I do know it’s a branch but there is a very big difference between the branch in how they believe the afterlife works.

wtf?
I just read the plot of this and somehow it gets worse???
the dwarfs are princes under a curse. In order to break the spell, they need a pair of magic red shoes. But currently the red shoes are owned by Snow White, who, get this, has “let herself go” but when she wears the shoes, they show how beautiful she is on the inside—aka thin.
So basically in order for the princes to break the curse, they have to doom Snow White to a life of fatness. why do they hate us so much.
Yikes…
Saw the movie recently and that’s literally not the plot at all
The advertisement group was disgusting af and when the movie came out it was actually nothing like those ads
The princes need to be loved by a “beautiful” woman but what’s beautiful is an opinion.
Snow white loves her size and strength (yeah she lifts!) but her dad goes missing and no man was willing to help her until she ended up in those red shoes. She doesn’t like what the shoes make her into. She just likes finally being helped.
It’s a love story between her and one of the dwarves where He needs to learn to not judge himself or other’s based off appearances
Spoilers but they get together at the end
He’s a prince again and she stays her cute fat self
SPOILERS BUT
Not only do they end up loving each other as they are but the prince also learns to love himself which he really… didn’t for most of the movie because he was so focused on how he looked, obsessively so (granted, I do believe the dialogue this was delivered through was a lil bit clunky but it IS a Korean written movie and sometimes translations from korean to english can sound odd)
But to go back to the matter of fat snow white, as a matter of fact, it is implied throughout the movie that she is under her own curse which is actually the shoes that make her thin and that’s because she likes how she truly looks like, and in the end, when the red shoes are no more and shes fat, that’s when the prince tells her he believes her to be the most beautiful woman in the world and finally means it, having overcome his superficiality
AND that lil shit is smitten with snow white, who remains very much fat and beautiful, by the end of it, just look at him, that heart literally came from his blush I think
Not to mention that the official instagram of the animation studio behind this, I believe Sidus they’re called? I’m on mobile I can’t look it up rn. Anyway, on their official instagram, they rarely ever post art of snow white as red shoes (her thin version) aside from promotional posters and stuff which is intentional. Heres a couple more images of them being cute and in love as themselves
Please support this film if it gets to your country!
Like, as a fat girl, I would have killed to watch a movie like this when I was younger and now that I did watch it, it feels so odd that a fat female protagonist is the subject of affection, exactly because theres a lack of movies that feature that and this is an amazing step in the right direction. This movie has such an important message and it explores superficiality, discrimination of fat people and self love brilliantly for a kids movie and its gonna get buried,,, because the Cannes did the worst possible job at marketing and because of a very black and white tumblr mindset,,,
Also idk if that’s important to anyone else but all the princes have different implied nationalities, theres a british one, a Scottish one, an Irish one, a french one and three italian ones and some portrayals can be a bit stereotypical ngl but it’s just pretty rad to hear accents that arent british or American in a market oversaturated by these countries
Uh not to be a bummer but I am concerned about how the dwarves are portrayed, it seems that they’re more like magical goblins or whatever but dwarfism is like a legit thing and calling that bad is also p bad, but cute fat snow white is great
There's a difference between Dwarfism vs Dwarfs.
Dwarfs are mythical creature while the term "Dwarfism" is a simplified term to describe several growth stunting conditions.
Dwarves, mythical race
Dwarfism, simplified medical term
I so hope you are not calling people with Dwarfism as actual Dwarves... From knowing someone with this condition what you are implying is... :/
