DARK SOULS III IS ON THE HORIZON! PRAISE THE SUN!

Leaked info for DkS3 from YouTube channel “The Know” came out a day or two ago, apparently from an anonymous source. Nobody can say for sure if this is true, but these screenshots and concept art pics are fairly convincing. Amongst this info for DkS3 were these nuggets: • 45 new enemies, 15 new bosses (seems like a reasonable number) • 100 new weapons and 40 new armor sets (where the fuck were numbers like these in Bloodborne?) • 60 minutes of cutscenes (a more elaborate story? More details, fleshed out characters?) • Around 12 areas in the game • Equal to the amount of content of DkS1 (That’s a BIG thing to promise) • A “sacrifice” mechanic for use in invasions. Apparently now, invading a game involves making a sacrifice, either of an NPC or another player. Once this is done, you can enter another world and invade, but a bounty is put on your head once you do so and it leaves you open for invasions in your own world. (Digging that. Digging that a lot) • A “heat up” mechanic for bosses that dynamically changes their aesthetics and behaviors. Not much is known about this ATM.

Now, look. Dark Souls is one of my personal favorite games of all time. But we can’t just keep re telling this same story. I’d prefer Bloodborne 2, or another new IP from From Software at this point. But either way, what really matters is if Hidetaka Miyazaki is heading this one up. Without him, this means virtually nothing. Apparently, more will be revealed at E3 2015.

Plus, you’ll never surpass Solaire and “Praise the Sun!”, in my humble opinion.

Initial impressions of The Witcher 3: •Menus should never be this goddamn obtuse. •The basic movement feels… Wrong. His main run without holding X is super stilted every time he takes a step, and the jumping is goddamn whacky. •Couldn’t you just, ya know… Fight everything with that silver sword? Not like humans have a heavy resistance to silver, pretty sure it’d still cut them efficiently into tiny cubes. •Goddamn it whoever thought of that whole “hey every time the player wants to begin running from a stop, we should have him slowly gain speed fucking awkwardly as shit” needs to eat a gun.

On the plus side: •The combat’s kinda fun •It’s nice to play a game with conversation trees again •Despite the slightly awkward animation in regular talking cutscenes, the voice acting is pretty spot-on and the attention to detail in the side quests is admirable •Geralt is basically Wolverine + Dante and that’s cool

So, basically, definitely not a 9/10 at the moment.

10 minutes of us having our souls torn to bits by Sonic Adventure and Shadow the Hedgehog. New ending edited in, it gets fucking absurd in that last minute. Shadow finally broke us.
