but why is reposting BAD?
i thought iād make an faq filled with every excuse in the book about reposting, for those who still donāt understand why itās badā¦or for people who donāt know what to say in retaliation to these! so here we go.Ā
first of all, an artist doesnāt even NEED to explain themselves. in the same way with someone who saysĀ ādude, make sure that soda is dietā or āplease donāt tickle meā. they donāt want you to do it. you donāt need to test them by ignoring them. the reason doesnāt matter: itās the personās wish with THEIR things. if you had any respect for others, youād just take it at that.Ā
BUT for some people, they donāt want to respect others at face value, and want their reason. (which, i might add, is rude.) so letās get into that:Ā
but iām giving you exposure! isnāt that good?
no.Ā
youāre not giving artists exposure. for people like myself, freelance artists, youāre hurting us. about a year ago, i sent my portfolio off to an indie game. in it, i had a piece of work that had been reposted (that i didnāt even know about). i was told much later that theyĀ ālooked into itā and saw that my work was posted by someone else, which means now they have no idea who the artist was, and THEREFORE canāt be sure my work was legit. i lost a potential job to a repost.Ā
doesnāt matter if you sayĀ āi didnāt draw thisā. sometimes, they donāt even look. they just look to see if itās on any site other than your own. and thatās terrifying for artists. so donāt endanger our livelihood for instagram likes.Ā
besides, youāre not even giving exposure if you didnāt credit, cropped out the signature, or somehow made the resolution so low to where you canāt even see the signature. which brings me toā¦
but i credited you!
some people still donāt want it reposted even with credit. the last answer should show you one of the many reasons why.Ā
youāre dictating what i can/cannot put on my page! this is MY page!
and itās MY art you posted. you canāt take something i did and do whatever you want with it. imagine if you took someones drawing, photocopied it, and spread it all around the town without their permission. theyād have every right to be angry, right?
but you posted it online, which means anyone can do anything with it. so if you donāt want it reposted, donāt post it online!
i have to post my art onto my websites to build a fanbase, something crucial to an artist. it shouldnāt be on ME to not post it in the first place, it should be on YOU to not repost it. youāre just echoing victim-blaming arguments.Ā
youāre basically sayingĀ āif you donāt want to be bullied, donāt exist.ā which is a terrible thing to teach people, rather thanĀ ābe nice and respectful towards others.ā yes, i know our world isnāt perfect. but thatās no excuse to contribute to vile things.Ā
well i would be honored if someone reposted my art. and my friend doesnāt mind reposts, so why should you?
good for you! good for them! but did you know thereās more people in the world other than just you and your friend? we have wishes and feelings too, so you donāt get to project your own emotions onto what WE should be feeling as well. i love peaches. some people donāt like them. that doesnāt mean that now they have to eat peaches because i donāt mind them.Ā
what an artist creates automatically belongs to society, though.Ā
go steal the mona lisa and tell me how that works out.Ā
everyone can VIEW it, yes. artists want others to view their work! we just donāt want you to do stuff with it we asked you not to do.Ā
WELL THEN SPEAKING OF THAT, since i canāt put your work on redbubble and sell it for myself, why do you have an umbrella of the starry night?? huh?? you STOLE van goghās work! (yes people have legit said this to me)Ā
putting my work on items and selling it is totally illegal. van goghās work is owned by companies now, who have authorization to print it on things. and iām just ONE freelance artist who is, you know, still alive and not giving permission to do that. you canāt compare a dead artist from the 1800s to a digital artist in 2017. apples to oranges, my dude.
well i SAID ācredit to the artistā so i DID give you credit!
because sayingĀ āthe artistā really tells people who i am and lets them visit my websites! thank you so much!Ā
but all sarcasm aside, that doesnāt do anything other than show you were too lazy to find the artist. same thing withĀ āsource: the internetā andĀ āwho drew this xDā or misspelling my url on purpose or putting the credit under a cut. OR cropping the image the cut off my signature! you didnāt give me credit.Ā
it wasnāt on the website i wanted it on! you should have more social media.
iāll have the social media i want to have. not up to me to make more accounts on more things just so you wonāt disrespect me.Ā
but i donāt remember where i got it. besides, i reposted SOOO much work and saved it all a long time ago. how can i find it now?
reverse google image search is so great.
also, if you didnāt know the artist, thatās a HUGE reason not to repost it in the first place!! you didnāt even know if it was okay since you never got to see their position on that!!
take down your video with stolen fan art. take down your entire fan art twitter account. i donāt careĀ āhow hard it was to save those imagesā orĀ āhow many views you have nowā. you got all that attention from someone elseās hard work. searching for art will never be as hard as making it. if it were that easy, youād be drawing all the art yourself.Ā
but i asked the artist and they didnāt say anything! i assumed it was okay.Ā
yeah, i feel you. itās the same thing as when you ask your mom if you can borrow some money, she doesnāt answer, so you just steal it from her purse. no answer means the answer you want to hear, right?
wrong. donāt takeĀ āunresponsiveā as a yes. thatās disgusting.Ā
well i honestly donāt care. artists are just selfish. iāll repost their art if i want to, just to show them how much i hate their stance on reposting. and (insert another really edgy statement here from someone who only says things to get a rise out of people since their life is empty)Ā
one day youāre gonna come across an artist who has no chill and wants to sue, and can actually do it, since some people put their work under HEAVY copyright. and iām gonna kick back in my chair with a nice capri sun and watch it all happen, since you have that kind of attitude towards people.Ā
yes, this whole thing seems a bit. well.Ā āsaltyā, as some would put it. and i have every right to be irritated over this. all these questions are askingĀ āWHY should i respect their wishes? give me a reasonā orĀ ābut here is my excuse rather than just taking it downā. time after time, artists are villainized just for telling people not to repost.Ā
like i said, the artist not wanting you to repost it SHOULD be reason enough! weāre so tired of having to fight people just to have respect for our art. we have to deal with tracing constantly, so can you please take reposting off our plates? i know bad things will always happen, but thatās no reason to make it worse by contributing.Ā
artists are generously putting our art out there for free. if you want to keep seeing our art for free (btw we donāt HAVE to, all the big artists could just up and leave and go to patreon), maybe show us some respect? because we get pretty dejected when we see strangers getting attention from something we did, and it makes us want to remove everything we show you guys. you sayĀ ādonāt post it then!ā but would be mad if all fan art disappeared.Ā
if you want to keep the art, respect the artist making it. thereās a real person behind that drawing.Ā
This is a hate free zone
Anon is being turned off. Tumblr has squandered its chance.
Anon Hate IS Illegal.
Guys, Iām not kidding.
Suicide-baiting, cyberharassmemt, cyberstalking, death/rape threats, and hate speech are illegal in all 50 states as well as Australia and the UK.
Please click on any state to learn exactly what the bullying and/or cyberbullying law(s) cover.

Some places include school suspension or expels. Some even include jail time for multiple years.
And yes, they can find someone by username or IP alone.
Also, yes. There are methods of catching someoneās IP. Even under a VPN.
Leo Traynor, an Internet user in Ireland, had a problem. More specifically, he had a troll, a very nasty troll.
So.
Next time you get hit with anon hate?
Casually remind them you can very easily take this to the next level. And they can earn jail time while you lay back in your chair, having saved yourself and everyone else from a violent criminal.
Your online actions have real life consequences.
Make sure they learn that.

Or a āItās not that severe.ā Yes. It is. People have died because of this. It really is that severe.)
Take action. And make sure the lives of these bullies are truly wrecked.
You guys better fucking reblog this.
Donāt just like it, reblog it. So people know.
About a week ago I posted this.
Iāve been getting horrible messages like this in my ask for months, including:
and my personal favorite
After getting the message saying āJust go kill yourselfā I was completely done dealing with this personās horrible messages and replied with just an āOkay.ā and logged off tumblr.
About a week later I logged back on with 17 messages in my ask, most of them from the anon. I scrolled down and at first when I logged off, the anon messaged me things like
I scrolled up more and all of a sudden they started sending me more and more messages like
This was extremely surprising to me. I thought āAfter all those horrible messages you sent to me for MONTHS about hating me and wanting me dead, you say āsorryā and that you ācant be responsible for someoneās suicideā?ā
But I guess the lesson goes like this:
DONT TELL ANYONE TO KILL THEMSELVES UNLESS YOU ARE PREPARED FOR WHAT MIGHT ACTUALLY HAPPEN
DONāT TELL ANYONE TO KILL THEMSELVES EVER.
THIS POST IS SO IMPORTANT I WANT EVERYONE ON TUMBLR IN THE WORLD TO SEE IT
This needs to be reblogged. I couldnāt scroll past this if I tried, I got a message like that but not for me, it told me to my friend to kill them self, I was livid! I didnāt answer it because a message like that doesnāt deserve an answer but I donāt see what is so funny about telling someone to kill them selves! I really donāt! Itās sick and itās wrong. This person though, I take my hat off to you. You taught that bully a lesson.
this.
This will always be number one on the list of things that arenāt okay
Ho-ly shit.
Iāll never not reblog this
If you dare scroll without reblogging this you have no soulā¦ā¦.. i mean you do but reblogging this wont ruin your blogā¦ā¦. please just spread the word.
Please people donāt send anon hate your just hurting yourselvesā¦
One of My online best friends was send anon hate like this. She was a sweetheart, talented, funny. And she was just a middle schooler. Not only was she being cyber bullied, she was being bullied at school and trapped with parents who didnāt support her and didnāt care.
That anon. Pushed. My best friend. Over the edge. She took her own life around November 14th, 2013. I never sobbed so hard in my life because no matter the effort we put in to try and save her from the brink it was no use. I felt guilty for years because I couldnāt do anything more. I donāt even have closure, even after these years.
Bottom line: Do. Not. Send. Anon. Hate.
Not as a joke. Not if you are being serious. Never. Thereās no reason. I donāt care.
Do not do it. Itās not funny. Suicide and self harm is not funny, itās not cute.
There is already so much cruelty and hatred and misery in the world. We all suffer. Please donāt add to it, please donāt be the reason someone else is hurting. If theyāre already hurting, donāt be the reason they take that step they canāt come back from. Donāt be the person you hope no one will ever be to you.
Donāt. Ever. FUCKING. DO. THIS. A close friend of mine almost killed himself because he was being bombarded with anonymous (and anonymous) hate. It makes me fucking sick.
Spread this EVERYWHERE! Reblog repeatedly and just get it everywhere. If I find out that any of my followers or someone else is sending messages like this, Iām coming after you.
Please donāt send anon hate to anyone. you have no idea what could happen!!!!
If I ever get this, just prepare for me to blow up at you.Ā I had a guy joke about this to me once.Ā Seriously DO NOT go there with me or anyone else I know.Ā Iāve been in that dark place - I still end up there someplace.Ā My mom has been in that dark place, and you know what?Ā
She didnāt come back.
I lost her when I was four.Ā It is never ok to joke about that.
This posti s back and I have some new thoughts on the subject.
Angry thoughts. But hey, Iāve been angry for a good week now, since the 8th of November, 2016.
What pisses me off the most about the anonās messages isĀ āI canāt be responsible for someoneās suicide, now stop, come backā. Because that gives me the impression that the person would be fine with someone killing themselves, as long as heās got no guilt in it, as long as heās got no repecussions to look forward to from the personās family and the authorities.
@ that anon and anyone who has done this: FUCK. YOU. ASSHAT.
Words hurts people. Be cautious about what you say, okay.
I hate people who canāt just stop sending so much negativity in this world. There is already enough of it in the world, with all of the recent events such as terrorist attacks. Why add to it and ruin someoneās day, if you arenāt even prepared to face consequences? People like this piss me off, and I hope that one day they will grow up and stop acting so negative towards others, just because of their āreasonsā to do so. No, nothing is a good enough reason to send messages such as these.
Heads up! New kind of bot!!
Checking my followers today, I found what appears to be your run off the mill "Jocelyn 27 pictures" bot.
But when I went to their blog to report and block them (and report and block all the other asshole bots i see on their page), the page looked like this:
Ok this is the attempt to appear like a nsfw blog. However, in reality a nsfw blog has a pixelized icon:
and the page looks like this:
DO NOT CLICK ON THE "YES I'M 18+". I HAVE NO IDEA WHERE THE LINK WILL TAKE YOU BUT CHANCES ARE IT'S NOT A PLACE WHERE YOU AND YOUR DEVICE ARE SAFE.
REPORT AND BLOCK AT SIGHT.

TAKE. FUCKING. ACTION.

Y'all: ugh I wish fandom content creators would post more š©š©š©š©š©š©
Also y'all when someone posts fanart/fanfic/edits/etc:
look im not popular in any way when it comes to my content creating and i absolutely understand that more attention makes you feel good about the content youāre putting out but I think that one, depending on other people for your own drive to create content isnāt really okay. also thereās always going to be more likes then reblogs like I donāt know, I donāt think this is something worth complaining about.
The main issue here is that it didnāt used to be this way. At all. And Iām certain a lot of the people who are making a huge issue out of the like to reblog ratio are people who are been here for a while (like myself) and remember the days when reblogs dominated the hell out of likes.Ā
Up until around 2016 or so, the like to reblog ratio was the total opposite of how it is now. And it applied on posts with fewer notes and posts with a large amount of notes:
You get my point. But over the last few years it has flipped completely:
And, of course, see OPās screenshot.
It doesnāt take rocket science to figure out that the posts with more reblogs have an astoundingly higher amount of notes because of increased exposure. Reblogging allows more people to see the content, thatās more people to either continue reblogging or at least give a like. For artists in particular who would benefit from the exposure in terms of commissions and patreon and all of that, this is a huge deal. It can make all the difference.Ā
Tumblr as a blogging platform was created with the intent to post and share content. Itās not meant to be a consume-only form of social media like Instagram. For fandom blogs in particular, it always boggles me that people donāt share content that they like. Tumblr was appealing for fandom in the first place because of the ability to plaster your blog with amazing things that other people made - this used to be unheard of. For me, itās like saving something precious so you can always come back to it again. Itās giving the people who follow me something awesome to look at too. Creating and sharing content is the heart of fandom.
People rely primarily on their dash for content.Ā Most people avoidĀ going into tags/searches because of wanky fandom drama. So reblogs are crucial for exposure!Ā Likes are a nice gesture, but they do nothing to help share and promote content. Thatās why content creators are frustrated or moving to other platforms, or why they stop making content altogether. Tumblr has its issues, but itās still one of the best places for exposure due to its reblogĀ function and overall post formatting. Itās discouraging seeing content creators on Tumblr as a concept die off. This site is nothing without them.
We can enjoy making things as much as possible but when we share it and no one cares enough to show it to others, it does make us wonder why we bothered in the first place. And this isnāt a new complaint from content creators. But it has worsened over time as the likes started dominating the reblogs.Ā
Itās not that we donāt appreciate likes at all, notes are notes. But reblogs equal more notes, which equals more exposure, which equals happy content creators, which equals more content for fandom to consume. Itās a wholly positive chain of events that circles back around. Your reblog could be a deciding factor on whether that content creator chooses to keep contributing or to give up entirely.
Reblogs mean the world to us. They can really brighten our day a whole lot.
yeah, itās absolutely a result of cringe culture. the whole atmosphere on tumblr has changed radically. with cancel culture, the constant policing of fandom content, calling everything āproblematicā, harassing creators for doing literally anything, and unmitigated sense of entitlement to other peopleās work, itās literally impossible to like anything without someone crawling up your ass about it. creators are afraid to create, and consumers are afraid to share.
Oh hey
*Weāre open again. We had a bit of an issue with the Rakes not wanting to come out of Theyāre dens.

Hello and welcome!
Iām Pyre. Itās a pleasure to meet everyone. On my shoulders are Loki and Orochi. Loki is a Light Elemental Muttvern. Orochi is a Water Elemental Papyrm.
