BIG INFO DUMP ABOUT LONG LIVE THE BLACK PARADE

Gerard’s interest in medieval miracle plays during the black parade writing / era really got me thinking about the new vids

We see the red carnation multiple times in this short video and I believe that means there’s significance in this.

Red Carnation is symbolic of the patron saint of Madrid, Isidore the Laborer from the medieval period. He preformed miracles and so did his wife (who is not recognized as a saint by the pope but is revered by locals). I’m hypothetizing (like I know Gerard irl like wtf lol) that Gerard has taken an interest in the patron saint and his wife with this idea of miracles.

Red carnations are worn as a sign of joy. I feel this is related to the patron saint I.e. the man wearing the red carnation is secretly a part of the resistance but he’s also a part of the dictatorships political cabinet— hence the secret symbolism.

Red carnations also mean in the Bible a heart filled with love AND pain. Basically like a scared heart which MCR has used in their imagery also especially in the Bullet era with the “Our Lady of Sorrows.” Which is an allusion to the Virgin Mary who also THE RED CARNATION symbolizes!!! Way back when in the medieval period they believed that the red carnation grew from MARYS TEARS AT THE CRUCIFIXION OF JESUS CHRIST!

What does this mean??

I think we are going to get vignette style stories of the 5 cabinet members in this dictatorship OR (maybe and?) something with this patron saint and his wife

Okay one more thing to add:

So about the carnation thing + the guy wearing it + revolution - in Portugal there was a military coup called the Carnation Revolution which was an almost bloodless revolution where crowds gave soldiers red carnations and they put them in their guns. !!!!!!
