On July 17th I went into emergencies after dealing with severe pain for 5+ hours, earlier that day I was diagnosed with gallstones. As it turns out, my gallbladder was too full of stones, inflamed and also, full of biliary sludge. The reason why I thought I was going to see God is because some of the stones moved into the biliary duct and got stuck there.
It was ordered that I get the imaging done again, as well as all the presurgical tests at that time, so that I could go into surgery ASAP. The concerns were that my markers (such as bilirubin) were high, and that indicated a blockage. After the tests, they also got to the conclusion that I have a high risk of pancreatitis.
I had to stay three days at the hospital before, during and after both procedures, and for some ungodly reason, insurance isnt covering all of it. I dont qualify for financial assistance because I make less than minimum wage, and while my parents said they would try to help, one of the only things I have to my benefit is my good credit score— and the longer this debt is to my name, the worse that will get.
Anything at all helps, its predatory from the hospital to charge this much and unbelievable that insurance simply refuses to cover it all.
I will be updating with every donation received. Thank you so much.
Whenever I talk about what the Internet was like in the mid 1990s I invariably get a bunch of folks responding "yes, I too remember the 90s", then proceeding to describe the Internet circa 2005 – and like, it makes sense that this would happen, because relatively few people were actually online in the 1990s, but it's striking how many folks just straight up misremember the mid 2000s as "the 90s".
There's probably a line to be drawn between this phenomenon and the surprising number of people who think of Shrek as the quintessential 90s movie in spite of the fact that it came out in 2001.
