originally planned on adding the ninth skull with gideon's glasses to the back but idk how i feel about it now so we'll see

Naberius was betrayed, literally stabbed in the back, and murdered for the sake of empowering one of the two people he thought he had to live for

Nah but snark aside, I think this might be why the "body of Naberius Tern" question has such a profound impact on Ianthe. She's slowly, uncontrollably absorbing the thoughts, feelings, habits, memories, etc. of a man who she dehumanized for their entire shared life and eventually had killed, and she does NOT want to think about it. She does not want to acknowledge the parts of herself that are him, because the idea that he had those parts at all throws an entire life's worth of her own feelings into question. He was a full human being with a full, human perspective on his life. He was murdered for her. Ianthe Naberius is literally being forced to walk in someone else's shoes, and she can barely even tell when it's happening.

How terrifying must that be for someone as self-centered as her?

the duality of ianthe. simultaneously one of the most powerful people in her universe and a grody pathetic mess with zero bitches. extremely competent except for when she's not. smart but not smart enough to avoid falling for a literal nun. is literally running the empire while god's having his midlife crisis but also took up smoking to look cool. covered for her sister's lack of necromancy, killed her lifelong companion to burn his soul inside her for eternity, and stabbed said nun through the hand to make a point. still cries at night.
