Happy International Transgender Day of Visibility to all trans people!
I have never and will never meet a heron-man, and yet I am pretty darn sure I ran into this guy at least once in the math department back during college, chalk-dusted pants and all.
He just sort of walked into my head fully formed one evening and demanded to be drawn. Love it when that happens. Image text: DR FRANKLIN KILPATRICK
Brilliant mathematician
SO VERY TIRED.
It's his turn to teach freshman trig.
He retires at the end of the year. Why is he teaching freshman trig?
Maybe he can claim infirmity to get away with whacking the Phi Gamma Delta pledges?
Surely he's earned pointer violence after forty years?
Or at least one (1) ballistic textbook?
Note to self: collaboration with Physics and Engineering departments?
Time to revive this blog, too, as I left Instagram back in January. Here's one of my favourite pieces that I've completed in the time this blog's been inactive! Entity and its little one love you very much. Inspired initially by a clip of a black swan on a koi pond. The swan and the koi were moving together, and my brain went "oh hey wouldn't it be neat if that was some sort of single, gestalt-consciousness entity? Oh shit. I gotta draw that now" and off we went to the recursive celestial entity races. Started it sometime in '22, I think, and finally finished it in 2023. Didn't mention it on Instagram when I posted the finished piece (I kept my fandom stuff on the down-low while I was there), but as the little hatching entity entered the concept and started taking on more form and personality, and the piece's focus began to shift to the Entity's gentle, inquisitive, almost protective observation of the little newcomer's emergence, the piece soon became quiet fanart of Castiel and Jack in my head. In qaftsielworld, Jack gets to eclose from a mountain under the moon, stars, and their mom and guardians' loving gazes like a good little celestial-material entity deserves.
Tombow and Prismacolor markers, gelpen, Micron pens, and Stuart Semple Black 2.0 on bristol, approximately 23x28cm/9x11in.
I made this. Bet you canât guess how workâs going.
Got a lot to catch up on posting. Life has been... harrowing, even without the pandemic. This was a pick-me-up I did today-- a handy visual guide on optimal seed and pellet eating methodologies featuring Trudy, my ring-necked tornadove (who doesnât âtake offâ from a spot so much as she violently flings herself off of whatever sheâs sitting on in the direction she wishes to travel). Brush Micron on bristol. Stay safe and be kind-- to others, but also to yourself. itâs a scary world out there right now.
(Reblogging from the personal blog) So I read orphanâs âCruel Angelsâseries again recently, and their description of Castielâs trueform was so vivid that I had to have a go at it. Not sure heâs quite to scaleâ teeny!Dean is still a little big if Cas is supposed to be skyscraper-level tallâ but overall, Iâm⌠actually happy with a piece for once. Iâd strongly recommend Cruel Angels, by the wayâ itâs gorgeously written, excellently paced, and really gets the nightmare-fuel nature of biblical angel body plans across to the reader. Lovingly titled âCosmic Creeperâ after this song, which I must have listened to like fifty gabillion times while working on this. Tombow markers, white gelpen, black Pilot G-2, and white acrylic on 9âłx12âł bristol.
Work in progress; photo reference here. Tombow markers and white acrylic paint on bristol, about eight hours of work as pictured (have made a little progress since). Iâd love to visit this place someday.
Carrying on Warwick be like BORK BORK *CRUNCH* Marker and silver pen on bristol, just for funsies. About an hour and a half of work.
Marker "speedpaint" of a black capped chickadee on redbud. Two hours, Tombows on bristol with just a smidgen of white paint.
âThe Artist is Secretly Five Years Oldâ, featuring a dragon, a cowboy on a dinosaur, and a slot canyon full of treasure. Done mostly for the sake of drawing something completely ridiculous. Tombow markers and a bit of acrylic paint on bristol.
I've been smiling the whole way through this commission! Micron pen on bristol.
Pen and ink birds-- a Sabine's gull (that had to be cut out due to proximate smoodge on its original page) and a red-shafted Northern Flicker. I want to do more and make stickers. Micron on parchment.
"Vastaya", a League of Legends take on Alphonse Mucha's "Flirt" biscuit advertisement. Rakan brought Xayah yellow. Tombow and Micron on bristol, 30hrs.
Gift commissioned for a young couple expecting their first little one. Mazel tov, friends! Micron on parchment.
Personal fun art thing. The whole idea behind this one was âokay, so what if MouseGuard, but with butterfly-winged faeries on birds insteadâ. Micron, Tombow marker, and silver gel pen.
Stylized raven tattoo concept, commissioned by a friend. Micron, Tombow markers, and a silver gel pen.
