We went to Brownsea Island in Dorset, England for a day trip in May to see the endangered red squirrels. We didn’t expect to see so much other wildlife on the island - these oystercatchers were fun to watch chasing off the crows and each other, whilst making their “peep peep” calls flying past us over the water and beach.

This is one of my favourite spots to visit in Oxford. It's so nice to just sit and watch the birds and boaters on this part of the Thames at Iffley Lock, south of the city.
I went to RSPB Otmoor in Oxford with the Meetup group "Wild About Oxford" last week. The event was arranged so that we arrived at the wildlife sanctuary to witness the amazing sight of hundreds of thousands of starlings dancing across the sky creating beautiful murmurations before swooping down into the reeds to roost for the night. If you ever decide to go, I believe they roost here throughout the winter, and just before sunset. We arrived at the viewing area an hour before sunset, after the 10 to 15 minute walk from the carpark.
