Ok. I met Jack Lowden just literally 3 hours ago.

I’m French, 27, from Paris, and I’ve been a fan of Jack’s for a while now. I didn’t know there was going to be a French premiere for England is mine until last Friday. I went to see another movie and I randomly saw the poster with a piece of paper on it saying that the movie would be presented by director Mark Gill AND actor Jack Lowden.

Now, I know what these “presentations” are like (I’ve done a few) : the cast and/or crew come in, say a few words each and go back out. That’s usually it. So I don’t go as often as I used to anymore. But I thought “It might be the only time before long that I get to see him in person” so I booked a ticket.

I went an hour early (as adviced by the staff of the movie theatre) and planned to wait at the bar tables nearby the room. I immediatly noticed some sort of VIP space closed by posts and composed of a table with glasses, beverages and champagne. A few minutes later, I overheard a girl say “I’m with the stars, yes, they will be there in 20min”. People were already queueing, but something was telling me to stay right where I was and to be patient.

When they arrived (10 minutes late), they were guided straight to the VIP section and Jack sat down - I swear - just two of three meters away from my table. ON. MY. LEFT. I was watching it all happening and he saw me. I was probably smiling like an idiot because he quickly raised his eyebrows as some sort of a “Hey!” and smiled back at me. I leaned my head to salute him and he leaned his head back, and then went to talk to other people. It happened so quickly but guys, yes, Jack smiled at me.

That premiere was already going better than I could have possibly imagined. After that, he was introduced to many French people (journalists, members of staff, one or two producers...) and he chose to drink the champagne (good call, Jack !). And suddenly, I lost the sight of him. To only find him taking pictures and signing autographs for fans. No, I didn’t think this opportunity would come. And OH YES, I stood up, walked up to him and talked to him.

Guys, if you thought this guy was nice, he’s that and more. He’s super kind, he really LISTENS and gives you all his attention. He looks at you when you speak AND when he replies. He’s super generous as well - at some point I told him I wanted to be an actress, and the second after he was all like “Oh that’s so great !” and giving me advice, even though I didn’t ask for it. And he super polite cause he thanked me more than needed. And guys, YES, he’s even more handsome in person ;) I never knew if I liked bleu eyes before, but now I know I do ;)

I could go on and on about how cool and nice he is, even if we only spoke for a few minutes (maybe 5 tops if I’m not mistaken). You know how premieres are, you never really get much time with the stars because everyone wants to talk to them and, also, they’re working. But that was way more than I thought in the first place. I only came to SEE him. From a distance. In a dark movie room. And instead, I got a smile and a conversation. I feel SO SO SO lucky and so thankful for the time he chose to spend with me and all the other fans.

Plus, I was probably looking like an complete idiot given that I was shaking and stattering a bit at the beginning. But he made me feel so at ease that I relaxed and by the end, I felt like I was taking to a friend. I know it sounds like one of those day dreams that we all have once and a while, but it’s not, it’s a real feeling. Jack, if you ever read this, we surely could become friends. Or, until then, thank you so much for everything, the smile, the conversation, the encouragements that meant the world to me and the kindness you gave me.
