Like last week, we will go over the colour theme of the event: Ruby!
Rose Tinted Glasses:
The act of seeing a relationship as all good and all okay when things may not be how it actually is. This prompt can be quite angsty if you wanted. Maybe something detailing how Jim sees Freddie, even in the last days. Or maybe this prompt is telling of how their relationship ilhas always been. It's always been good and that's all that matters. It's up to you!
Red String of Fate:
You could use this prompt as literally or figuratively as you wanted. The Red String of Fate originated from East Asian mythology where an unbreakable red thread connects two people who are meant to be together. Maybe you want to use it as a soulmate au or as a story-within-a-story jumping point. Maybe you want something more literal and want to write them tying a red string on each other. You could draw them connected by the red string or have them wear red string. Whatever you like.
“The Great Pretender”:
This song prompt is based off the cover Freddie did of the song of the same name by the Platters (1955). The song details how happy someone appears when, in fact, he is very sad and lonely. Maybe that can be the precursor to Freddie and Jim getting together. Or have Him listening to the song and Freddie assuring him that he hasn't once thought he was lonely when Jim was around.
“There’s no place like home.” :
The classic quote from "The Wizard of Oz". When Dorothy taps her heels together and closes her eyes and wishes to go home. This is perfect for Freddie being away from his beloved Jim and wishing he were home. Or maybe Jim thinking it after Freddie has passed. Either way, they are each other's home!
The dates for the event are 27th-29th of June, 2025.
It is the year of their Ruby Anniversary so the colour theme is Red!! ♥️

hey, i was wondering if you'd perhaps post a poll for me, as a sort of interest check for something?
i recently participated in an event for another fandom, which was a sort of prompt exchange/collaborative writing thing, where each participant submitted a fic prompt and those were traded around between everyone, with a couple swaps during the writing process as well so multiple people ended up working on the same fic
i don't know if i've explained it very well, but it was quite fun, so if people would like to try something like that i would definitely lay it out better

As for now, 2025 might be the last Johnica Week I will organise (unless there's still demand, I might organise a celebration day on their anniversary but not a whole multi-days event) but don't worry, I will keep running this blog to share Johnica fics and fanarts, and the masterlist will always stay open if you want your creations to be added!

This year the event starts on Thursday 16th January and ends on Sunday 19th January, with Saturday 18th being the 50th Wedding Anniversary!

The 50th wedding anniversary is obviously a huge milestone, usually called “golden anniversary”, and GOLD is the main theme of this celebration!
Gold is malleable and flexible, like the compromises made between a long-term married pair in order to make it to this milestone year.
Then, it is resilient, impervious to heat and acid, and acts as a reflection of the eternal endurance of a long-term union.
Last but not least, its rarity and luxurious nature is an ideal reflection of the precious nature of a long-term marriage.
Gold is not just a symbol of money or luxury, but represents a strong and deep relationship, showing how much the two value each other beyond just material things. Keeping this in mind, this might help you as an underlying prompt or starting point for the theme of your creation for this event!
Some of the daily prompts are based on Gold: memories, special objects, themes, songs, plus a classic romantic fic trope each day. As always, you don't have to follow the prompts, feel free to let your imagination fly!
