There was a trend in the 40s and 50s (not sure if it predates that or if there are places that still do it) where you could get your child’s baby shoes cast in bronze or dipped in bronze and use them as keepsakes or have them mounted as bookends. Better than the resin slop of the modern day in my opinion. My great grandma had my grandpa’s baby shoes made into bookends ends because she loved him very much and he was her only child and it is honestly really cute. My mom got her dad’s baby shoe bookends when she moved out and they were in my living room my entire childhood, she had explained how they were grandpa’s shoes covered in bronze and I thought that was cool.

Then I went to an art museum and saw bronze busts of people and my tiny child brain thought the person’s dismembered head and shoulders were in there…

Can we talk about the wording in this line? “Heck, if he wanted to do open-heart surgery on me, I’d probably let him.” Heavy on the word wanted. Not if Grace needed it, but if Rocky wanted to. That is actually insane. You’re telling me if Rocky just wanted to do open heart surgery on Grace for no reason he’d just go:

“Rocky already study. Rocky ready now.”

Bruce Wayne is so fucking good at lying, both at the mental and physical level, that he allows himself to truly believe whatever he's saying in that fraction of a moment and THAT'S why no one can ever force him to reveal his identity.

Bruce has been lying for SO long that he can drill down to the tiny ways his body needs to breathe, move, etc and the way his mind feels when it's telling the truth. And then he tells himself, just for a moment, that whatever he's lying about is the truth. That he doesn't just need to believe it, but that he does.

Of course when someone asks him, in that moment, who he is -- the answer is "I'm Batman." Because in that moment, that is the only answer. It's the truth.

My contribution to the eridian welcoming committee adorable chaos is that at some point Grace receives a letter that actually makes sense in English. Like it's polite, well-written and would make sense as a welcoming card. And he's so confused. What happened to the cards accidentally suggesting they wanted him to go to hell or something? What if they're actually trying to be mean this time and it came out nicely? He gets Rocky over who tells him they worked very hard to get this one right and does he like it and poor grace is like no?? "Grace want to be told to go to hell again then question?" YES!!!
