if i see a “rhys is a bad person because he lets the illyrians abuse their women” im going to start screaming fr
just tell me you don’t have critical thinking or media literacy skills. HES TRYING. do yall have any concept of how hard it would be to remove a centuries long tradition (because that’s what it is even though it’s horrifying) from a fairly isolated, largely self governed, native community? it’s not so simple as he goes in and says “hey stop that” and just kills the ones who don’t listen that’s not how change works. female mutilation happens in the real world and has for centuries, we can’t just say that’s illegal and people will stop, it’s really not that simple.
i just don’t understand why people read the books if they hate the main characters and want them to be bad fr.
and p.s to those of yall who are like “aelin would never let this happen” she planned to use her own cousin to breed fake heirs so…. she ain’t perfect either (and i love her too don’t trip)
Not to mention he HAD gotten it under control and then Amarantha happened and all of his people betrayed him.
He is literally in the process of damage control and people are pissed off that he couldnt fix it in less than a year.
The way I obsess over how vindicated Rhaenyra must have felt as she was crowned by her husband. Her lover, her partner, her dream, her soulmate. Daemon lived upto all her expectations. He had promised her his love, his devotion, his pampering, his sword and his life. And he fulfilled all of them.
The way no one believed her, mocked and insulted her for wanting Daemon. The way she was humiliated and dismissed for loving Daemon. And yet, when the time came, Daemon rose upto the challenge. He proved Rhaenyra right. He crowned her, he fought for her, he died for her, he protected her and supported her. Not even once did Daemon think low of her. Not once did he insult, abuse or betray her.
The fucking irony of all the so called "good" men in her life failing her. Cole, Corlys, Viserys, Laenor, Harwin you name it. None supported her the way Daemon did. None can hold a candle to Daemon.
I'm not happy that Rhaenyra had go through so much hardships. But I like to think she couldn't help but laugh whenever she thought about the "evil" "rogue" dragon protecting her and loving her more than all these "good" "gallant" "knights" ever could.
The fucking irony
By the way I won't forgive Condal and Heiss for what they did with Joffrey, Aegon (the Younger) and Viserys. What was the point of making them so young...? Especially when they have to be older for the events of the Dance to make sense.
If you are going to make Jace and Lucerys older, then do it as well with Joffrey, who was supposed to be only three years younger than Jace. So the three should be 16/14/13 according to season 1... or 20/18/17 according to season 2 episode 7... (...doesn't make sense by what they told but that's yet another error on part of the writers)
I don't even know how they're going to make the Gullet and its consequences work with Aegon and Viserys as toddlers.
What about Rhaenyra and Aegon the younger. He won't even remember --
What about the return of Viserys?
And what they did with Joffrey hurts me a lot because. He was essentially erased from the show when he has a few remarkable moments that clearly distinct him as a character, even as young as he was.
On Dragonstone, Queen Rhaenyra collapsed when told of Luke’s death. Luke’s young brother Joffrey swore a terrible oath of vengeance against Prince Aemond and Lord Borros. Only the intervention of the Sea Snake and Princess Rhaenys kept the boy from mounting his own dragon at once.
[...]
It was Jace who came to the fore now, late in the year 129 AC. Mindful of the promise he had made to the Maiden of the Vale, he ordered Prince Joffrey to fly to Gulltown with Tyraxes. Munkun suggests that Jace’s desire to keep his brother far from the fighting was paramount in this decision. This did not sit well with Joffrey, who was determined to prove himself in battle. Only when told that he was being sent to defend the Vale against King Aegon’s dragons did his brother grudgingly consent to go.
[...]
Joffrey, not quite three-and-ten, was eager to prove himself a warrior, but when told that Tyraxes was needed to help his mother hold the Red Keep in the event of an attack, the boy swore solemnly to do so. Addam Velaryon, the Sea Snake’s heir, would also remain in the city, with Seasmoke. Three dragons should suffice for the defense of King’s Landing; the rest would be going into battle.
[...]
This prospect excited Prince Joffrey. “Let them come,” the boy announced, flush with the arrogance of youth and eager to avenge his fallen brothers. “I will meet them on Tyraxes.”
[...]
“I want to fight for you, Mother, as my brothers did. Let me prove that I am as brave as they were.” Prince Joffrey Velaryon to Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen
It's... quite ironic, because while I was quoting all of this I realized that... omg, they kinda took Joff's character and merged it with Jace??? That eagerness to fight to prove himself...
How much he wanted to prove himself a warrior, to help Rhaenyra, to be like his beloved brothers that he admired so much...
I'm so sorry for the Velaryon boys... they did them all so dirty in the show...
😂 I absolutely love this 😂😂
Jace is really just the Blacks' less cryptic Helaena nobody will listen to him and he's right like 99% of the time his reasons for not wanting bastards on dragons might be personal and biased and stem from his own internalised but no less reasonable insecurities but he does turn out to be right in the end unfortunately no wonder Rhaenyra flies off the handle after the battle of the gullet like other than grief the literal only voice of reason at her side will be gone she'll find herself surrounded either by untrustworthy people or people she can trust but who are as chaotic as her if not more and that's a recipe for disaster

Tom:
Tom in every single fic I've ever read:
“Your sisters love you. I can’t for the life of me understand why, but they do. If you can’t be bothered to try for my happy little circle’s sake, then at least try for them.”- cassian, acofas
I wish Cassian kept this energy instead of becoming a little lap dog. He made a good point, she didn’t deserve feyre or elains energy. Sarah shouldn’t have forced Cassian to train her or be in the House of Wind. He deserved a well-developed arc on his own with no mate and actually fleshed-out his character. He could be with someone who is an Illyrian or a warrior so Sarah can world-build and address that plotline….
Deadly combo of a pretty face and a cocky personality.
jace could never marry cregan stark (or spend a long time in the north if you don't like the gay boys) cause his dumbass is definitely tryina go OVER that wall.
"oh my great grandmother and grandsire couldn't get their dragons to over the wall? well, i'm built different."
To the people that previously body shamed this talented beautiful man.
GO FUCK YOURSELF!!
This man deserves every single ounce of praise going for his performance and dedication to his role as Aemond.
My version of a teenage Rhaenyra Targaryen!
that Ryan decided that Rhaenyra Targaryen of all people had gender identity issues...she was a woman and felt like one...you are just adapting scripts so that the person who plays Renada is comfortable... I'm sorry but it had to be said. Rhaenyra would never EVER say she wanted to be a man.
So feminists we want to be and it seems like there can't be strong women who are feminine and heterosexual.
Let's clear things up once and for all. The real canon is the books written by GRRM. George may have sold his soul to HBO, but HOTD is still nothing more than poorly written by Ryan and Sara fanfiction. The events that take place in the show are not truly canon. This is more like a filmed AU fanfic.
The real canon is:
Viserys loved Alicent.
Alicent and Rhaenyra were not friends.
Alicent was eighteen years old when she married Viserys. Viserys was not yet thirty at the time.
Helaena is not a dreamer.
Aegon the Usurper is not a depressed boy who was disliked by his parents.
Mysaria and Daemon had a child together who died before he was born.
Criston did not have sex with Rhaenyra or Alicent.
Laena was twenty-two years old when she married Daemon.
In order to become a dragon rider you need to have Valyrian blood in your veins.
Whether Daemon cheated on Rhaenyra or not, he never tried to usurp her or scheme behind her back.
Killing Luke and killing Jaehaerys were not misunderstandings or accidents.
When the war began, the people of the Riverlands immediately supported Rhaenyra, except for the Tully and Brackens. But the Tully were initially neutral, and then supported Rhaenyra, and the Brackens were looking for a reason to fight the Blackwoods.
Corlys eldest illegitimate son is Addam, not Alyn.
Vaemond is Corlys nephew, not his brother.
Rhaena Targaryen's dragon is the Morning, not the Sheepstealer.
Alys charms had no effect on Daemon.
Rhaenys Targaryen has black hair. Rhaenys was not present at the coronation of the Usurper, and she was the one who proposed to attack the capital with all the dragons that the Blacks have.
Daemon really killed Laenor.
After his wedding to Rhaenyra, Laenor lived almost all time in Driftmark.
Daenerys's dragon eggs were laid by Dreamfire, not Syrax.
The marriage of Laenor and Rhaenyra lasted six years, and Rhaenyra and Daemon ten years.
Daemon didn't kill Rhea.
Rhaenyra was never cheated on Daemon.
And as a special aside, Jaehaera Targaryen died before she was ten years old. She and Aegon III have no children together. And Daenerys Targaryen is not a descendant of Aegon III, but his younger brother Viserys II. I'm writing this because at least forty green fans of the show wrote to me who were smart enough to Google that the war would end with the marriage of Aegon and Jaehaera, but not smart enough to Google what would happen after.
Jace invokes his fathers. Daemon in disposition. Harwin in appearance. Laenor in name.
They are each a part of him, and he wears them like armor.
