did perfectionism ever truly protect you from harm or neglect as a child though. ultimately. Lol
[REALLY NORMAL AND WELL-ADJUSTED VOICE] well you never know maybe it COULD have saved me. if i ever actually achieved perfection. it could have happened then. if i was actually ever enough. Which i was not
“Because the truth is, tech doesn’t have an image problem. It doesn’t have a message problem. It has an intention problem. What’s wrong with the axe murderer who broke into my house is not that he hasn’t successfully persuaded me to buy into his narrative. What’s wrong is that he’s trying to kill me with an axe. Similarly, when you launch a product that’s designed to put millions of people out of work, block access to sources of verifiable truth, replace human creativity with slop, and lower the barriers to every sort of atrocity, the problem isn’t that you haven’t told the public a good story about those things. The problem is that you are trying to do them.”
— The 40 Most Rage-Inducing Problems in Tech
can grief stop hiding in the half smoked cigarettes my impoverished father would've farmed from the cracks in the sidewalk outside of a convenience store? the same half smoked cigarettes that eventually killed him of lung cancer? that he insisted on taking secret puffs of until he literally couldn't breathe anymore? it's an ironically cruel place for a fond memory to be
my dad would've smoked that
this made me howl with laughter so thank you
I don't know that much about how tech works but from what I do know, I think it's possible that torrenting, if it was widespread, could significantly reduce our need for data centers. But we can't have that because of IP right laws.
When you're torrenting a file, you're transferring it from someone else's computer to yours. The little file you download and open in utorrent/whatever you're using has the coordinates of where the big file you're looking for is stored, and the more people are seeding the file, the faster the download will be for you. There are so many computers in the world right now that if we relied on torrenting more than we do on cloud services, we would need much fewer data centers.
It's such a cool technology but unlike with streaming/cloud services companies can't restrict your access to a piece of media if it's stored on your and thousands of other people's hard drives so it's just not compatible with our supposed "free market" capitalist system.
can someone help me find the picture of a bunch of webkinz(?) like gathered in a living room and some of them are playing a ds and some of them are sitting around a tv playing the wii and some of them are playing webkinz on a laptop and i think some of them were drawing too?? it looks like it was taken with flash on iirc and it was circulating on here a while ago
Wait, so you’re telling me today’s the 4th? What’s next, the 5th? The minor fall? The major lift?
Rob’s son stole his phone and is active on his IG account right now 😭💀
He says Sunny 18 will be out in August (and seems to be directly asking Rob these questions!)

The most basic, intractable fact about mental illnesses is that you simply cannot willpower your way out of them. The only exceptions to this rule are the ones I have, which continue to disable me due to lack of determination and other grave personal flaws
not even funny how true this is for me
