Me: There are so many things that need doing. There are so many things to do, seriously. I can't even remember them all, that's how many things there are on the list, come on, please, let's get something done, I beg you!
Brain: What if all humans were born mostly deaf, and were so used to near silence and the nuances of the other senses, that it was considered incredibly alarming, even terrifying, when one was to suddenly gain fully functional hearing, and instead of being afraid of one day going deaf or losing your hearing, most people feared the possibility of hearing sounds, hearing everything, because it would be too much to process and comprehend, an assault on the senses, and too different from the quiet life to which they are accustomed and of which they are most fond?
Me: ............Okay, I mean, that's a great question, but-
Brain: And then, because humans are so used to signs, gestures, and communication through touch, maybe even scent, when a rare human can hear everything, they are considered disabled and are pitied, because they struggle to master the nuances of the other senses, being so distracted by sounds all the time. Meanwhile, they find a voice, and different ways to use it, but because no one else can really hear them, their unique joys, experiences, and abilities go unappreciated because people cannot understand them, and communicating like the rest is a challenge because so many people have little patience learning how to communicate in ways that are easier and more intuitive for them.
Me: .......That is actually super intriguing, and I would like to imagine more, but I also really need to get at least one thing done today.
Brain: Or you could watch the quick shots I've already put together for possible scenes of the film about this which you'll never make but as a concept will fondly and wistfully revisit from time to time, if you remember, adding yet another creative idea to our ever-expanding list of projects slowly baking to dust in the vast desert of your suffering psyche.
Me: .........Okay, just for a minute, but then we need to decide on something productive to do, for real.
