everyone delete your blogs for a second i have to think
by Elena Arcangeli
do you ever not necessarily dislike something but you just get so sick of hearing about it you blacklist it anyway
when you call your ex “psychotic” because they have anger issues or you had a bad breakup you’re being ableist.
when you call a criminal a “psycho” when you mean to say dangerous you’re being ableist.
when you call a politician or celebrity “delusional” because they’re making controversial, bigoted statements you’re being ableist.
when you call someone “schizophrenic” or “bipolar” because they’re backpedaling, changing their arguments, being bigoted, vile and entitled you’re being ableist.
whenever you use the words “delusional”, or “psycho”, or “psychotic”, or “schizophrenic” as insults or synonyms for “despicable human being” you’re aiding in the stigmatisation of people with schizophrenia, antisocial personality disorder and bipolar disorder by feeding into the idea that we’re agressive, violent, abusive, dangerous and risky to be around.
whenever you associate our disorders with violence, bigotry and criminal activity youre both buying and feeding into the idea that we’re inherently bad people and you need to stop. you need to take a look at your language and the words you use. you need to take a look at what the media (horror movies, journalists trying to pin a mental disorder on every white criminal out there etc.) has caused you to internalise and believe. and you need to try to do better.
Y'all ever just…. Try to do basic math in your head and your brain blue screens?
My brain shuts off the mere second it realizes math will be involved
i miss 1990 when i didn’t exist
hello I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately. The anonymity of tumblr means that I associate my idea/image of you with your icon and sometimes I look at people’s icons and I’m like ‘hmmm….what is that and why?’
so pls reblog this and comment in the tags the meaning behind your icon and why you chose it. this is a social experiment. do it for science pls.
the most exciting thing about tumblr is when you’re reading an issue post and you have to guess if you’re supposed to agree with it or not before getting to the last comment
Omg yaaas *goes to silent hill to get punished for my sins*
