Could you fill me in on the whole grape-kun thing?

A japanese zoo, Tobu Zoo, had a colab with the anime Kemono Friends where they added cutouts of the anime characters to the enclosures of the matching animals to attract visitors and stuff, one of these characters being Hululu, an airhead anthropomorphic Humboldt penguin:

Grape-kun, an old humboldt penguin who’d been abandoned by his former mate due to his health issues, started showing a lot of interest for the cutout, staring at it for hours, trying to reach it on top of the tall rock where it was placed, and even trying to court it.

Of course, Kemono Friends already being a surprise hit show, the thing went viral and tons of art, jokes and other content were made. Even after the colab was over, the zoo didn’t remove Grape-kun’s sunshine, and Hululu’s VA Ikuko Chikuta even visited Grape-kun during an educational event:

Unfortunately, Grape-kun was already old and his health started to deteriorate. He was removed from his enclosure for treatment, along with his muse of course, that was placed next to him. On october 12, 2017, Tobu Zoo announced that Grape-kun passed away, with Hululu by his side in his final moments. Once again Grape-kun started trending, this time in a sadder tone as fans, visitors and part of the Kemono Friends staff paid their respects.

As a final homage to Grape-kun, a new cutout was added to the penguin enclosure in january 2018, immortalizing this romance:

I have no stakes in this, I’m not in the US. That being said I believe something awful did happen to Dr Ford based on the emotion she displayed during her testimony, whether or not Cavanaugh was the person who did it, we might never know.

You can’t use emotion to objectively determine whether, or not someone is telling the truth. By that logic, we could just as easily say Kavanaugh is telling the truth because of the emotion he showed. Some people can be delusional and actually believe with every fiber of their being that something bad happened to them even though in reality, it didn’t. Some people are just damned good actors. Others probably have experienced something terrible, but they’re pinpointing the wrong person either intentionally (revenge, a political agenda, etc), or unintentionally (mistaken identity, etc).

You’re free to believe she’s telling the truth and you’re free to believe she’s lying, but none of us can say for certain whether it really happened, or who was responsible if it did. Too many people are touting their opinions as cold hard facts when they’re not.

I’m still stunned when people tell me that Ford’s testimony was believable. When they can say that with a straight face, then I know their judgment can’t be trusted. To use a video game metaphor to make this easier on you, the stake she has in her business is like owning a Farm or Vespene Gas facility or Gold Mine or Mineral Deposit that doesn’t have a resource limit. Her income is already guaranteed by the systems in place. The only threat to her is competition. 

Which is why she supports higher taxes on people in her bracket, because it makes the cost of creating the same systems she already owns more difficult. It’s another hurdle she can use the government to place in front of the competitors approaching the starting line behind her. She is using your hatred of rich people to protect her own wealth systems while pretending to be a class traitor to get “woke points” and use your votes as a weapon against any new competitors that could threaten her.

1. The deceitful concept of 1%.  She’s pretending as if she’s in the same socioeconomic strata as someone who builds houses, has a site contracting business, or owns a hair salon.  As Epicurus notes, she’s attained escape velocity.  A tax increase will have no impact on her.  She’s not in the same universe as the bottom half of the 1%.  Progressive policy is a tool of the elite used to clip the ambitions of upity members of the lower classes.

2.  They prey on the delusion that higher taxes somehow benefit the masses of envious prog voters.  There is no one who reblogged this who could tell me how higher taxes would benefit them personally.  They may harbor Bernie fantasies but none are rooted in reality.  The nation typically runs massive deficits despite raking in record revenues.  Nothing would tangibly change with a tax increase.  It would only make it that much more difficult to succeed and further the annihilation of the middle class and economic mobility.

She’s free to pay as much as she wants to in taxes.  And yet she would rather preach?  Why is that?

- Taxes being lowered on the rich doesn’t mean they weren’t lowered for the poor

- People as rich as the Disneys actively benefit from socialist policies because as pointed out above it’s their way of using the government to put a roadblock in the way so nobody else can get to their level and compete with them. I will always use fluoridated toothpaste because that is a topical application. Fluoride works best on teeth topically in high concentration. The concentration of fluoride in water is too small to have any significant topical effect. Taken internally it provides no benefits.
