Gender critical
“We cannot live in a world that is interpreted for us by others. An interpreted world is not a home. Part of the terror is to take back our own listening. To use our own voice. To see our own light.”
— Hildegard von Bingen, from ‘Selected Writings’ (via letheane)
stop using the “this will only stop safe abortions” argument against conservatives. they know and are fine with women dying a bloody death for trying to get an abortion. for them it’s not a bug, it’s a feature.
I feel like so many activists really need to change the narrative from simply, “these right-wingers aren’t actually pro-life. They don’t care about children, if they did they would fund public schooling, maternal care, strengthen gun laws etc.”
To, “Right-wingers actively seek to destroy the female class by trapping them in endless cycles of pregnancy, childbirth, and resulting financial destitution. They do not want women holding important positions in society including, doctors, lawyers, government roles, and other civil society positions which take years to obtain the needed degrees for, and further time to secure job roles which pregnancy and motherhood often interrupts for long periods of time (sometimes forever). They want to punish women for daring to organise for their rights from the second wave of feminism and beyond, by forcing them to undergo bodily harm via pregnancy and childbirth. They are glad that the childbirth mortality rate is high (especially among Black women) because they fundamentally consider childbirth an act that should be forced on women because they are simply are women, predestined to be punished by the Patriarchy. ‘Pro-lifers’ are anti-abortionists who fundamentally want women and girls suffer.”
"The equation of maleness with bigness persists as a dearly loved concept. I’ve heard “Look at the big males” while viewing an elephant matriarch and her offspring in Kenya, and “Look at the big male” while sighting a female musk ox and her young in Alaska, and I’ve gnashed my teeth on both occasions. Authoritative women who correct false impressions are unfeminine and bossy but it is equally true that amateur observers of wildlife tend to assume that the largest animal in any grouping must be a male, and furthermore, that he must be in charge.
Contemplation of a big female mating with a smaller male is so at odds with our human perspective and the sort of anthropomorphizing that is found in books for children that many intelligent people are surprised to hear that in a majority of species, females do happen to be the larger sex. This is an evolutionary adaptation with probable reproductive advantage for the American bald eagle, the king crab, the snowy owl, the gypsy moth, the chinchilla, the garter snake, the python, the right whale, the humpback whale, the gray whale, the blue whale (thus the largest creature in the world is female), all families of rabbits and hares, the hawks and the falcons, toads, sharks, salmon, flounder, most hummingbirds and turtles, and other fish, birds, reptiles, amphibians and insects too numerous to mention.
Only a half-inch shorter than Prince Charles when she wore her flat heels, Lady Di was reduced in stature by a full head for the postage stamp that commemorated their royal wedding. “She looked up into his eyes” is more than a breathless phrase from a Gothic novel; it is an expression of the heterosexual relationship as we expect to find it. When a woman stands taller than a man she has broken a cardinal feminine rule, for her physical stature reminds him that he may be too short—inadequate, insufficient—for the competitive world of men. She has dealt a blow to his masculine image, undermined his footing as aggressor-protector. To show a man that he may not be needed is a terribly unfeminine stance."
- Femininity by Susan Brownmiller
Also mad respect for the South Korean feminists who created and popularized the 4b/6b4t movement in a country with extreme misogyny. We need to respect the roots of this movement and the women who spread it.
the twitter women are waking up
Americans be like “They never taught us that at school” as if they’re a little farm girl living in dustbowl Oklahoma during the 1930s. Like maybe if you ask peepaw real nice he will take you on the wagon to town on the next supply run and you can check out this hot new thing called “a public library” while he’s watering the horses. Or you could just google it.
I love radical feminism because it’s the only movement in this world that cannot be infiltrated and dictated by men, every other movement gets taken over by men and has them dominate and dictate it and eventually runs for their benefit, and we’re the only ones they can’t infiltrate because we don’t let any of them in and I think that’s the best out of all things, a movement which men can’t twist to their benefit or use to promote their own goals, a movement where men can’t brainwash women into thinking men’s presence is needed, a movement where we can all talk free of male perspective, free of having to watch out not to lower men’s social status, free of having to consider if them being called out will make them angry and aggressive, free of worry they will take the lead and take credit for everything we’re done, free of being lead into fake perspective of our own oppression, free of getting shut down when we voice our issues and problems, free to call out and criticize everything, free to say the truth, I think if I could achieve to be surrounded by radical feminists all the time the quality of my life would skyrocket.
It’s incredible to me that surrogacy is so normalized. We all understand that you can’t sell your organs because that would incentivize people to put themselves in harm’s way. But interestingly, you can rent a woman’s entire body and have her go through a process that could result in physical/mental trauma and even death. But oh, I forgot, when it comes to women, it’s okay because our bodies are always the ultimate sacrifice
remember kids, homelessness is the direct result of flaws in the capitalist system 👍 it is not the result of laziness, addiction, or even misfortune. it is a state of being only possible when profit becomes more important than humanity 👍 homelessness is manufactured as a threat, or a promise of what will happen if you don't give your labor to the ruling class 👍 we can disarm this threat by removing its power to cause fear and by being kind to the homeless 👍

I’m getting a lot of conservative followers from my anti-porn post so I want to put this out there:
I am not your friend. We are not ‘allies’. I am against pornography because I care about women not getting raped or tortured. You are against pornography because you see the women forced into those scenes as whores, dirtied and going to hell.
We. Are. Not. The. Same.
Same goes for conservative transphobes.
I AM NOT alligning myself with old conservatives who blindly hate trans people because they “look” wrong or “are changing the body that God gave them”. I criticize the gender movement because of how harmful many of the ideas are towards homosexuals, not because they are going to hell or some other bullshit that conservatives want to spew.
I’m making this my pinned post. It drives me up the wall when people think radical feminists have the same political views as conservatives, that could not be farther from the truth.
Conservatives: Want to keep the sexist system of gender in place and conserve gender roles
TERFs: Want to destroy that system and get rid of gender roles
Dumbass TRA: “HURR DURR THIS IS THE EXACT SAME AGENDA!”
Conservatives: Women are private property TRAs: No, they're not; they're public property Radfems: Actually we are not property at all TRAs: Oh my GOD Karen, you can't just say NO to us!!! This is just like when conservatives say no to us for genuinely oppressive reasons so clearly you are conservatives!!!
its so absurd to me the wide gap in underregulation and overregulation regarding womens healthcare
like the recent lead in the tampons thing, how period products were never tested with actual blood until like last year, how doctors ignore women with any healthcare issues blame it one weight or your period, complete negligence on behalf of corporations and the government whenever women are concerned
but the second abortion or birth control are involved suddenly its counting days from conception, requiring your husband to sign off on hysterectomys, questioning miscarriages to try and punish women, forcing women with stillbirthed children to go to term instead of receiving a late-term abortion
its completly arbitrary and stupid and im losing my fucking mind
Doesn't sound arbitrary to me. Sounds very much planned and intentional.
Radblr has really helped me see the harm that prostitution, porn, etc does to women and girls. Thanks, gals. Y'all rock.
"sex tourism" is such bullshit. you're not a "sex tourist", you're traveling to other countries so you can rape impoverished, often trafficked, women and children and you should be hanged
correct word is "international rapist" and "would be dead if we lived in a just society"
“What’s a woman? Ermmmm okay but like what’s a chair haha”
You know what the fuck a chair is. If you asked for a chair to sit down, and I brought in some random guy, you’d be pissed. But what’s the problem? He identifies as a chair!
Words mean things because that’s why we have words. It is a communication tool, and it is entirely dependent on the mutual understandings of definitions. I don’t believe for a second that “woman” and “man” just happen to be the only words that you cannot define because ohhhh it’s just so messy and tricky and philosophical, bruh! Deep stuff!
If these words were really that unintelligible, that confusing, that vague… then we simply would not use them. Because that is not how words are designed to work. If a word has no meaning, it’s just gibberish.
But, you know what a “woman” is, in your eyes, don’t you? It’s “whoever is feminine enough”… isn’t it? But of course you don’t want to say that, because people would easily be able to pick that apart. You’ve been backed into a corner with this question, so all you can do is dodge it with non-answers until they leave you alone.
We’re not stupid, and you’re not stupid, so quit playing games. We’re all adults here. Grow up and own your shitty ideals.
