Mike don’t have a ‘kink’ in superpowers.
He was just surprised. Anyone would be surprised to see the boy you know since kindergarten start developing superpowers out of nowhere, right? It’s normal to be surprised.
(Not everyone imagines their best friend squeezing them with the same force he used to kill those Demogorgons, pushing him until…)
He shakes the thought aside, trying to focus. As established, he definitely DON’T have a thing for superpowers and he definitely isn’t gay.
He date a woman for god’s sake!
I mean, he notices a guy here and there, but doesn’t everyone? Anyone with eyes can recognize a good-looking person, okay?!
He is just making good use of his eyesight and observing people, like the inquisitive and curious person he is. It’s nature. He can’t simply choose who he looks at. That’s impossible.
Like that time he bumped into a bush because a guy took his shirt off right in front of him.
Again, surprise! He was just surprised.
It’s not exactly a common thing to see, someone taking their clothes off out of nowhere, near your house. It’s weird. It’s shocking. Dustin and Lucas think that too, their faces certainly said so. They were caught of guard. Just like him.
Everyone was shocked by the sudden nudity.
Nothing gay to notice here.
Then there’s Will. He always seemed to bring out his investigative skills—after all, he’s his best friend. It’s his duty to protect, to observe. He knew he paid more attention in Will than anyone else, but that’s only because he’s so committed to being a good friend.
Like in California, when Will was walking in front of him, he was just observing his friend’s body to see if anything was wrong. To check his wellbeing. He noticed that his ass was somehow bigger and that his arms were more defined. But he didn’t say anything to will.
He definitely didn’t dream about that later, especially those so-called arms carrying him. Nope.
When they were helping the kids escape from the base, he definitely didn’t look at Will’s wet hands in his, definitely didn’t keep squeezing them as if his life depended on it when he lowered his hand to get a better grip on the pipe.
Will looked like a TV star or a particularly wet dream, who would made him wake up still hard.
Mike’s eyes looked like they’re forming hearts when he saw Will wipe the blood from his nose, everything around him slowed down.
