Okay fine intro post

Hi! I'm Raine, I use he/she/they pronouns interchangeably. I'm here to post about writing and whatever show, movie or book I'm currently hyperfixating on (usually in the form of analysis posts or pointing out funny details)

I don't really post much about my WIPs because something in my brain causes me to hate my projects when I share them with other people before they're done, but I still occasionally talk about my process, advice I received or want to give, and writerly frustrations. What I can say is that I primarily write fantasy and supernatural stories, as well as a lot of fairytale adaptations. I also like to betaread for other people's projects (primarily original fiction, genres such as fantasy or science fiction but open to other stuff)

When it comes to my hyperfixations/special interests it's a little all over the place. I watch a lot of animated shows like The Owl House, Hazbin Hotel and Arcane. I read fantasy books from time to time (my faves are Six of Crows and Gideon the Ninth). I love slightly more absurdist stuff like The Good Place and Everything Everywhere All At Once. Also my blog is probably still themed after Dead Boy Detectives whenever you're reading this bc it's simply the best show ever made. protip for everyone, but mostly boys in this case:

when you are on a date, and someone has an interest you don't quite get, instead of saying lol lame, try saying hmm i don't quite get that, please explain that to me, and then listen as the other person talks about why that thing is something they are in to.

you might learn something which recontextualizes the matter, and you will definitely learn something more about your date, which is the entire point of dating.

you don't have to be a superfan by the end, but you will have shown you can be chill and take an interest in stuff, which is much more likely to result in a second date instead of being ditched in a coffee line.

this also works outside of dating, btw.

Ted and Pete's dynamic is pretty much entirely fanon and judging by their interaction in abstinence camp, probably out of character, but tbh fanon is called fanon for a reason it doesn't have to be accurate. My interpretation is that Pete probably looks up to his older brother but Ted probably isn't that involved in his younger brother's life because he was almost grown up by the time Pete was born. He probably cares at least as much as everyone cares about their siblings but they definetly don't live together

Grace Chasity is truly the character of all time. She’s a strict Christian. She’s a totally freak. She’s She’s THE nerdy prude. She’s hunting down perverts and killing them for sport. She’s on a holy mission. Said mission is being funded by five guys who are “worse than the Devil”. She’s Max’s perfect opposite. She becomes exactly what Max became.

and to top it all off, it’s not like Grace Chasity truly fell from grace over the course of the show. she was lowkey insane to begin with. she has one (1) horny thought and goes “I need to obliterate the man who’s making me feel this way”. she organises a humiliation hit on him. she jumps straight to “here’s exactly how we’re gonna bury the body” after he accidentally gets himself killed. her little dance moves? the way she’s so conniving and into all of this devious planning? Grace Chasity was never truly the “good girl” and that’s part of why her character is SO much fun

Actually obsessed with Ethan Green from the Starkid Hatchetfield series bc what do you mean this shitty little youngling that walked straight out of a stage production of Grease is willing to drop everything and leave to the other side of the country for Lex and Hannah

Like Lex and Hannah have a trainwreck of a mother to escape but from the Nightmare Time fragments he's in there's little indication that he has a shitty situation to escape. He works at his dad's car repair shop and it kinda seems like he's comfortable with that? He seems to like it and not mind his dad being there? He lets Lex hang out there while he works and everything

And he's out here in Black Friday hatching an escape plan outta town with Lex and there's never a discussion of either him or Hannah staying behind. He's unconditionally taken that kid in as his own little sister he's parentified for. They both kinda suck at parenting but what can ya say they're like 17. For his age and circumstances he does a great job. He and Lex are a team and Hannah is always a part of the plan.

Hannah would be completely reasonable to hold back her trust but when Ethan makes a promise she has pure faith in him. He and Lex are young and stupid and in love and they're in this together and I just think that's real sweet. They were both equally willing to lay down their lives if it meant that Hannah could live a little longer. In Jane's a Car he thought Lex almost killed him and he just overexplained the difference between the D and P about it, comforting her that he was still alive and never even considering the possibility that she was trying to hurt him. Barely even raised his voice. She was so worried for him

I just think their dynamic is neat as hell
