Firefighter Robin who’s in the doghouse with her captain, so she gets sidelined during a lot of their calls because he can’t put her on probation just because their personalities clash a bit. So, when the public gets a little too curious and rowdy, she’s the one they send to go tell people to calm down and back the fuck off while her teammates get to save the day.

Which is fine. Except, when a series of mysterious arsons strike the city, a wanna-be detective has decided to take it upon herself to solve the mystery once and for all. And it seems all that’s standing in her way is some yellow tape and a really cute easily distractible firefighter.

thought about this again. i think robin's vision is so bad because she got childhood cataracts from a couple of gnarly eye infections when she was really young. i DO think she has glasses but theyre pretty old and her prescription's changed so they dont even really work that well anyways (and hasnt had the time nor money to get a new prescription AND new glasses. my god those things are expensive).

also one of the lenses is cracked because shes still a little clumsy with them lol

It's mostly just been reblogs lately, so I thought why not put something of my own out there, y'know?

Anyway, so as you may have noticed from all my shares and stuff, I'm really into Stranger Things and I'm taking in as much content as I possibly can.

I'm just now starting to read the novels, which then eventually will turn into me finally working on reading my growing list of fanfics. I like going in chronological order for everything whenever possible, so I finished Suspicious Minds and am currently about halfway through Darkness on the Edge of Town now. Rebel Robin is next and I'm looking forward to it, heh

So here's just some quick thoughts I have so far with the books:

I love picking up on all the references to popular media at the time. It gives me this sort of nostalgic and unfortunately also the "God, I'm old" feelings 😔

Example: mentioning Eartha Kitt's portrayal of Cat Woman in Suspicious Minds. I personally haven't seen the film(s?) yet, but I have great love for her regardless so I got all giddy from her being brought up, heh

And I also couldn't help smiling at the mention of Vicki Lawrence in DotEoT. I miss watching the Carol Burnett Show reruns that used to be on like all the time. I dunno if they're still playing on some TV channel out there somewhere, but I wanna watch that and other shows like I Dream of Jeannie again. Those were good times.. Sigh

All in all, there's not really a point to posting this, but that's what I've been up to these days. I might share more thoughts as I read more, but eh, we'll see

Robin teaching Nancy how to play guitar. Sitting behind her on the edge of the bed, legs on either side of her, showing her where to put her fingers and guiding every strum. Nancy keeps messing up and chalking it up to nerves instead of acknowledging how the skin at the back of her neck buzzes every time Robin speaks or how all she can think is that Robin smells like citrus and mint.

s2 rebelpop is actually such a fun concept. imagine you're nancy wheeler, still dealing with the guilt of killing your best friend and the terror of knowing monsters are real and your boyfriend isn't really willing to talk with you about it in a meaningful way which is making everything so much worse.

and along comes some girl in your class who you've seen in passing but has always glared at you for some reason (what is her problem??) and you've never properly interacted until now. and whether it's through normal class time or the halloween party or maybe even sometime after the second round of the apocalypse, you meet her and she's sarcastic and irritating and you always argue but she's normal.

and maybe that's why you keep coming back. because she's the only person you talk to that hasn't gone through the horrific events you and the others have. because what you bicker about is just... school, or homework, or each other's dumb little habits. because every time you get mad about something stupid it's almost refreshing. because she reminds you that there's a lot more in this town than the monsters.

once they become friends at the end of s2 nancy is so desperate to keep the upside down away from robin btw. she wants to keep this little pocket of normalcy for herself so goddamn bad, to the point where she’s nervous about robin coming over to her house and overhearing something from mike and his friends in the basement (robin understands but she thinks it’s for the reason she doesn’t really let nancy come around her place - her parents). but they’re growing closer every day and even though it’s over it’s also not, nancy doesn’t think till ever be over and she’s terrified of it coming back when she has such a nice friendship with robin right now.

robin for her part does pick up on nancy’s nervousness, but isn’t able to truly figure out what it’s about yet. at first it’s because she thinks nancy has figured out she’s a lesbian and is in the process of distancing herself, but nancy also keeps coming right back to robin seemingly despite herself. so robin puts that theory on the back burner and thinks about what could have actually been scaring nancy this entire time. she doesn’t really see any other people around nancy (not since barb), so is she getting bullied? or ostracized? she knows about nancy’s boyfriend, jonathan - is he isolating her? but then, nancy spends a lot of time with robin, and the few times she’s seen him he doesn’t seem bothered by it at all. is it outside school, like her parents? or further beyond, like worries for the future or something?

they both sort of silently vow to be there for the other, but in entirely different ways. nancy thinks she’s protecting robin from the monsters on the outside, robin thinks she’s protecting nancy from the monsters within. and they both just get closer and closer :]
