They didn't speak for a while. Charley sat down beside the Doctor on the floor. At last, she said what she wanted to say. She said it quietly, and looked straight ahead; she didn't want to look at him. 'It sounds silly,' she said, 'But if I am to be trapped anywhere forever, then I'm glad that it's with you.' She made herself turn her head towards his. And he looked back at her dully, and she saw that he didn't understand, he didn't understand anything at all. 'I don't know what you want me to do with that,' he said.
