We're all members of the human race; we're all the same. So when you hear things like "my black friend," or "she's someone's daughter/sister/mother," or even me saying "I'm Gina and I'm a lesbian." All these things are labels, but we're all human. Yes, human. It's an extremely simple concept, but over time we've made it so complex. I hope this trial has called some attention to these complexities. So how about we just say, "I love people." It's simple: treat people as equals, because they are your equals.
