After loving Doc Martin, we just discovered Best Medicine.

We used to wonder how an US version of Doc Martin would work and joked that "The Doc would live in the fanciest house up the hill while the town is sick because no one can afford an appointment"

So now, actually watching it, we can't but to wonder "Does Elaine have everyone's insurance on file? Do the patients get a bill at home after the appointment? How many times someone would have sued Martin already? Are there really towns in usa where the health system works like this?

Maybe my perception is too distorted after living in a city in FL for 20+ years, but the idea of just going to the doctor without being a hassle and not costing an eye in the US is surreal.

Apart from that, or maybe because of it, we are enjoying the show, the cast, and how they adapted so many little details into the US setting. (We still don't get to Martin Clunes' episode, but love that he shows up too)
