I was debating pre- and post- smartphone existentialism with an older gentleman today and he stopped part way through and said “Why are you a security guard? Why aren’t you teaching this at some college somewhere?” And I didn’t know what to say so I went with “Well I used to make art but nobody pays an artist”

I will never forget the guy at the theater for TADC episode 9 dressed up as Kinger who, upon entering during previews and realizing people were clapping over his costume, stood in the middle of the room, threw his arms in the air, and shouted, "I dont know what is going on, or WHO is going on, but I know WHERE is going on, and its IN THIS THEATER!" Causing the entire theater to erupt into manic cheers and applause like he'd just saved his team last second in a football game

It's surprising I've never seen anyone ever talk about Gale as like a divorced person having to go back to dating for the first time in 10 to 15 years. Like okay yeah they werent married but gale was UTTERLY devoted to mystra. I think we can all agree he didn't sleep with let alone even look at anyone else while with her. Also because she's a goddess and he was having mind blowing, sharing body and soul, sex in the weave with her. Part of Gale's story is his belief that mortal life is "wallowing in the dirt," and he not only desires to "be among the stars," but believes that it's his rightful place up there. So I'm sure he was like lmfaoooo look at these losers having old fashioned mortal sex, these peasants have NO idea what true pleasure and connection is.
And then his hubris leads him to the orb, and he gets throw out on his ass, and that's it, the most important relationship of his life for the past perhaps decade or more is gone. It meant everything to him and nothing to her, not in a malicious way, but just, she's a goddess. She's incapable of loving a mortal the way mortals can love each other.
And then he falls for Tav, so not only is he back "out there" in the dating world for the first time in a decade+ of being w/ the same person, but now he also may be wondering am I reading the signs correctly? Does Tav actually care for me? Or am I seeing what's not there, just like with Mystra?
I mean, it's natural to wonder if someone we are very newly dating feels the same about us. I don't think Gale comes off as mad extra in his need for assurance, but surely he must've thought at some point "I hope I'm not reading more into this like I did with Mystra"
The beautiful thing as you get older is that you realize so many “rules” are made up and you can just do whatever. Posters can go anywhere in the house not just my room. I can sit down while cooking a meal or taking a shower. I can make the same thing for breakfast lunch dinner for a week straight. I can roam around the house shirtless. I can wear a dress with jeans. The world is my oyster key word my and I can live as I please embracing little things such as this
