On October 19th, 1998, members of an Earth Liberation Front cell known as The Family set fires at a ski resort in Vail, Colorado. This ELF action was in protest of the resort’s planned expansion into an area that is a critical habitat of the Canadian lynx. The fires reportedly caused as much as $26 million dollars worth of damage.
