So when I first adopted the girls, someone suggested that I put on a hoody and cuddle them up in it so they get used to my scent. I put on a panda poncho (pause for laughs) and stuffed each beautiful baby into a pocket where they slept. This helped; they became less timid and used to my scent. A year on, I still have the panda poncho and whenever I have it on, on a cold night, the girls still love to cuddle up. It's official: the panda poncho is their blankie.
It's pea fishing weather again! Beautiful girls! Cools them down!
I have returned!
After an absolute whirlwind of a few months, I have returned to bombard the internet with ratty cuteness! Apologies for my silence!

Anxious
I'm going out tomorrow night to celebrate Halloween. I'm staying at a friends house and will probably be staying there most of the day. I'm so anxious about leaving my girls alone. There will be other people home with them but I get scared in case they think I've abandoned them. Anyone else get like that?

My Many Apologies!
I would like to apologise for my silence on Tumblr recently! Work has been very hectic!
As I mentioned previously, the girls are both settling into their new residence after my break up. Houdini became a little shy and Akira came out of her shell however this has rectified itself.
Houdini is back to being a mischief and Akira is being her usual smarty-pants-self.
England had a storm last night and as I woke up this morning, the wind was howling. As I was getting ready for work, both girls were sat, watching the window. They couldn't see out of it however they could hear the howling wind. I think they were watching it to see if they could discover what the noise was.

No Cuddles, Please!
My girls aren’t overly keen on having cuddles or being stroked. They do not run but they do kind of move their heads away and look at me as if to say, “Mum, what are you doing?”
They are handled very often and I have tried stroking in a variety of places.
Does anyone else have rats like this? Have I done something wrong?

Thank you so much! I think my girls are adorably cute but I admit to being completely biased!I have two girls who are six months old (born April 26th 2013). Akira is a hooded rat and Houdini, her sister, is an albino rex rat.My girls love cucumber! Nothing beats a couple of slices of cucumber! Their not so healthy favourite treat is rat yoghurt drops but I always try and give them the healthy option!

hi! I love your blog!! the girls are so cute! I have a question, I have two rats of my own, and the older, Toby, has started throwing things? I think he thinks its funny, and I know he is doing it deliberately. Have you ever had this problem?
Thank you! This the first piece of feedback like this I have had! It has put a smile on my face! :-)I can't say that I have had that problem, no. Does he have many toys? If it's because he's bored, a rat kong may be an idea. You put treats in it and the rats spend time trying to work out how to get the treats out with their hands and mouths.Kongs can be a little expensive depending on where you buy your rats supplies so it's always fun to come up with alternatives. I have been known to get a cardboard toilet roll tube, stick chopped cucumber in the middle and pack out the ends with scrunched up newspaper. It doesn't last as long as a kong but it stills provides the rats with something interesting to do.Sorry I couldn't be of more help!
