I work at a daycare, mainly with infants so a lot of my time is taken up by cartoons and nursery rhymes. I’m always happy to talk about work (not the kids) and different stuff having to do with teaching infants.

I think ao3 is literally the only site where no censorship means no censorship. you can post the most vile things on there — things that will get taken down on any other platforms — and ao3 will protect you, your works, and your rights to create whatever you want, however you want.

and no, this isn’t me saying “write that messed up, disgusting thing” because while, yes, write it if it’s what you want (I myself enjoy writing dark fics, something I believe would be considered “vile” to a lot of people), this is me saying in a world of censorship and capitalism, ao3 really is a treasure.

Sometimes all you need in life is to cry in the shower to Noah Kahn about the fact that you learned the first person you ever loved and your first ever best friend turned out to be a horrible person who would actually hate who you’ve become. Yeah it’s worse when you’re standing ten feet from their childhood house that you spent all your time in because it was really hard for you to make other friends your age during childhood when your partner gives you the information.

Even though it’s hard to imagine them growing up past what you remember. Being in seventh grade and slowly growing apart when before you have the chance to fix it you’re whole life is uprooted while your grounded and you have no way to tell the only friends you have and the only girl you ever truly loved that you have to move.

You just get plucked up and dropped somewhere else. In a new school, in a new life, in a new world. And you’re expected to make friends immediately even though you had such difficulty making the ones you were just torn from violently with shaking hands and fear in your voice. You’re expected not to self destruct when at the most crucial point in your development you’re taken from everything and everyone you know and forced into a new world you didn’t want and yelled at when you do implode and blamed when you do fall apart.

So yeah. It really hurts when you’re standing in front of her house a new man learning that she would hate you.
