Hello again. I'm breaking out the proper grammar for this.
Food Crime #1: Oreos And Soup Stock Powder
For quality purposes and experimentation, I made sure to buy both the regular and golden version of Oreos. I also made sure to use a higher quality stock powder that I already owned, the Siip Roasted Chicken Bone Broth. I had fears that if I bought an imitation dollar-brand it would merely taste like a salted Oreo.
When asked about how to prepare the Oreos, @officially-bbc-news stated that the stock powder was to be sprinkled into the middle and sandwiched, instead of sprinkling it on top.
I was surprised to find that the normally robust flavours of the Siip were muted by the sweetness of the Oreos. When paired with the Golden Oreo, it gains a decent note of umami that leaves a smoky aftertaste. Unfortunately, the cocoa powder present in the regular Oreo overwhelms the Siip to the point where I could barely detect it.
I feel like the flavours of the Siip would stand out more if you actually made the stock, and then dipped the Oreo into it. That being said, you could probably get a similar experience by having a rotisserie chicken meal and then having either of the Oreos afterwards.
The Golden Oreo with Siip gets a 5/10. It's okay. If you wish Oreos had a savory edge to them, this could be a starting point, but we could definitely find ways to add more.
The regular Oreo with Siip gets a 4/10 as you would probably not notice any changes if you weren't actively paying attention. It still tastes like an Oreo. It's passable.
Food Crime #2: Oreos With Orange Juice
Because I already have the Oreos with me, I will also be trying this suggestion from @nemia13 in a seprate reblog chain:
I will be dipping these like I suggested to do earlier with the bone broth. I'm 99 percent sure that's what you're supposed to do here but if not, we can find stranger ways to incorporate liquids into Oreos another day.
You know how Oreos are always coming out in limited edition flavours, or how Oreos are sold with fruit-flavoured frostings in some countries? This tastes like one of those, and it adds a lovely zing to it.
The Oreos with Orange Juice gets a 7/10. It's a great way to recreate the flavour of harder-to-get Oreos for a fraction of the cost, but I probably won't go out of my way to make this again.
