My young self didn't believe it

Because how could something so beautiful

I didn't understand how something so beautiful could be toxic.

Until I met you.

Tight enough I couldn't breathe

And still. For the longest time I refused to believe you were a weed.

Beautiful things can be toxic.

And I didn't understand that until you.

This is going to be controversial in some circles, but books are not sacred objects unless you want them to be. Dog ear them. Write notes directly in the margins. Highlight, underline, put a sticker in the front. Dip the edges in your bath water, in your beach sand, in your tea. Live with it!

There are thousands of copies of the average book, and if you ever ruined yours you could buy another for $3 off ThriftBooks or something. Unless you are specifically working with rare first edition printings, it’s fine to just treat a book like something that you own. Take it with you everywhere and if you lose or forget it just shrug because it’s really, truly, not a big deal. Love books hard, they are just bundles of paper and the story that you adore is always safe even if you treat your paperback like a doorstop. It’s fine.

Camper: ivy league bound, practical, insecure, could be really romantic, lives on coffee, wears sweatshirts a LOT, geek af

sneakers: morning runs, just want to finish school, green smoothies, never had a long hair, upbeat rap

loafer: Parisienne, expensive bags, americano, Victor Hugo, neurotic

doc-martens: messy handwriting, lace, eyeliner, indie-goth, gold-hearted but pouts for the aesthetic, edgy

converse: TØP, vegan, green tea, had a fangirl phase, 90s aesthetic

think about all the cute people you’ve seriously crushed on in class or the times you’ve looked at a stranger and realized how beautiful they looked in that moment, flecks of gold light hitting the tips of their eyelashes, deep in thought, rosy-cheeked and unknowingly captivating

now think about how many times that’s likely happened to you but no one voiced it. just like you have secretly admired others, others have admired you. someone has been silently overwhelmed with the uniqueness of your features or the smoothness of your voice. even though you might not always be told how beautiful you are, remember this. and maybe even tell someone the next fleeting compliment you have, because people aren’t reminded often enough just how beautiful they are

Today I was getting my hair cut and I pulled up a picture to show the very nice lady cutting my hair and she looked at it and said "uh. Are you sure you're showing me the right picture" and I looked down at my phone and I was showing her this
