why do we keep casting straight people in gay roles and cis people in trans rolls

1. There aren’t that many openly gay actors/actresses and especially not that many trans actors/actresses. 

2. They may not have tried out for the role.

3. They may not have been right for the role as an actor/actress. 

Actors are meant to adapt to play a character. 

Look at the show How I Met Your Mother. 

The leading “womanizer” on that show is a gay man in real life.
