I think, and this is something I have given a lot of thought to in the years since the finale aired, that while Rajan didn't have any bisexual experiences, he certainly had a certain bisexual disposition.

how am I backing this up, you ask? simple

He was man who KNEW he was missing out on something. He KNEW he wanted to be with a man but he didn't think it was possible (because of his father, because of the image of masculinity in his home country, because of his position in the family company, because he's an ONLY SON who has so much legacy to carry). He knew that if he had the chance to try it without losing everything, he would. Worst of all? Rajan knew he would like it.

I have made it my mission to spread the rajalagang love for a while, but I think I did a fairly good (if simple) analyzis when I said that this look was the beginning of so much in their lives. Wolfgang being vulnerable with someone who isn't his cluster or his brother/soulmate (and even being vulnerable with them is like pulling teeth). But this moment. This moment right here. They don't know what they will come to mean for each other. They both know they want the other to mean something. Look at Wolfgang's fucking earnest "I will never forget it". Look at Rajan's thirsty "I did what I could"

I am begging y'all to see what I see. Rajan could lose everything. He even said it in an episode when he confessed to Kala that he had been taught to believe in his company the way people believe in God. But that seeing Kala's disgust was enough to make him see what she saw and he hated it. AND HE CHANGED THINGS. He improved!!! He did better!!! Knowing his father would disapprove, he fucking changed things in the company because he did not want to lose Kala. And guess what? if he feels something like attraction or maybe something like love for Wolfgang, it's actually okay! He's definitely not going to lose Kala because of it.

When I tell you we were so robbed when they cancellend S3. You just know that the slowburn and journey of self-discovery would have been Emmy worthy. You and I both know that the S3 slow burn was going to make people go into heat like Heated Rivalry is doing now.

Sense8 show of the ages. Bi representation in all the fronts. I could write essays about this actually.

All of the storylines in Sense8 are so good!!!!

Like Will being a police officer and it's still a story that's quite critical of the police. The awareness that he is a good person who just happens to be a police officer, not saying that he is a good person because he is a police officers.

Riley's storyline is just????? god rewatching knowing what happened to her I'm like oh my god everyday must be so hard and I just love her so much. Just the way they portray her depression, how she spaces out and uses music to shut herself off and keep herself safe!!

Kala and her confliction about the fact that she doesn't love Rajan. And the way she learns to love him and it's not framed as oh he's so good to her he deserves this it's just? about her and how when given the space to get to know this person she finds that she really does like him.

Wolfgang's whole story seems like it should be such a macho storyline but it's not. Like he loves to sing and he's the one they turn to when they want someone fearless but then he can't lie to his family because he's scared???? And then Lito helps him?? Oh my god I cried.

Capheus and his just infectious joy for life and the way he cares so much. What he's going through is so hard and scary and yet he's so often upbeat and always willing to help others. The fact that Nomi doesn't know how to drive so he takes over because he's incredible at it? Such a beautiful example of how they cover each other I love it.

Sun being such a badass? And also like the way she's overlooked so often and looked down upon. Despite frequently being the most capable person in the room. The double life she lives and the way every woman can relate to her storyline despite the fact that it is a wildly specific situation.

AND FINALLY MY BELOVED QUEER CHARACTERS (with the acknowledgement that I do believe every main character in this show is queer but Nomi and Lito have the storylines that revolve around it).

LITO. God just his entire storyline of hiding this huge part of who he is because he's scared of the backlash. And the fact that this leads to him hurting the person who he loves the most. And of course it's understandable that he fears the backlash it's shown to be terrible but the way that while going through all of that horrible shit he discovered how brave he can truly be even when he's not acting. And he uses that bravery to help the people he loves (specifically Daniella and Wolfgang).

The way the show portrays the violation of being forcibly outed and how it affects Lito and his loved ones is heartbreaking and beautiful. The way amidst all the pain, his community rallies around him. And Hernando's reaction to his student putting up that photo of him and Lito? The dignity he maintains even though if I remember correctly that's the first he's seeing about this. The way he spins it to show his audience that sex is not gross or dirty, it can be passion and love and pleasure.

Nomi's storyline being so informed by the fact that she is trans while her character is not monopolised by it. She is a computer whiz, she used to be a hacktivist, she can't drive, she got arrested (several times)!!! Like she's a fully fleshed out character!! And she is also trans and a lesbian and her storyline is about that!! It's about her relationships with her family and Amanita. It's also about her committing cyber crimes!!

Amanita is one of my favourite characters she's such a badass she's so protective but she's not so protective that it stops Nomi from having the space to defend herself. She steps in because Nomi deserves to have someone defend her and shouldn't have to deal with people attacking her but she also steps back when asked.

Daniela is a voyeur, yes, but since Lito & Hernando know she's there when they have sex, the voyeurism is clearly consensual and therefore a non-issue. their kink is not your kink and that's okay.

I disregard every other word you used to describe her because none of them are accurate.

Daniela genuinely loves both Lito & Hernando and they genuinely love her back.

Did she make a mistake by taking intimate photos of them without their permission? Yes. And that's bad. But she tried her best to fix that mistake and she did it to her own detriment, let's not forget.

She put herself in ACTIVE danger to protect Lito's secret and was ready to condemn herself to a lifetime of abuse rather than let Lito be outed against his will.

Her "I love gay porn" when she first finds out isn't eloquent or particularly mature, but Dani as a character is supposed to be a little silly, a little immature, a little bit of an impulsive, fun-loving girl

She doesn't think a lot about consequences or implications, she's very much an in the moment kind of person

She had just found out her casual dating partner is actually in a committed relationship with another man and that dating partner was freaking out about it because he's not out yet and in her mind, "I love gay porn" was the way to reassure him

She might be impulsive and sometimes silly, but she has a good heart. She's coming at things from a good place even when she gets it wrong.

In other words, she's human.

sometimes you rewatch Sense8 for the plot, sometimes you rewatch Sense8 for the character bonding, sometimes you rewatch Sense8 to watch queer characters not die and actually have a very happy ending, sometimes you rewatch Sense8 for the healthy, mature, and supportive romantic and platonic relationships portrayed in the show, sometimes you rewatch Sense8 for the action sequences, sometimes you rewatch Sense8 for the music and party moments that alter your brain chemistry, sometimes you rewatch Sense8 for the fucking orgies and the beautifully done sex scenes, sometimes you rewatch Sense8 just for the fucking awesome cluster transition shots— every time they’re walking around and suddenly all other 7 of ‘em pop outta nowhere seamlessly or that fucking shot of Wolfgang walking down the alleyway and he’s visiting all his other selves and they turn up to follow behind him as they all line up into one and then in the restaurant with lila- the shot of them all rising behind him—

there are so many fucking reasons to rewatch this show.

I now realize why I, and many others, envy the Ghibli girls – because of the one I don't envy: Anna Sasaki (the main character of When Marnie Was There).

In scenes that make us crave the Ghibli "lifestyle", for a lack of a better term, the characters are doing extremely mundane activities – something we, theoretically, could easily integrate into our lives. In fact, most of us already do. The top results on Pinterest for "Ghibli mood" are made up of studying, working, doing chores, eating, cooking or sleeping.

So why do we envy them? Now it's time to go back to Anna Sasaki. The third picture I used of her was in the beginning of the movie as she was drawing. On paper, she's doing a mundane activity in a Ghibli movie. It should count, right? But no one envies her. Because she, as opposed to the other Ghibli girls, isn't occupied by the activity she's performing.

She's occupied with concerns. She's not in the present, but inside her head – as most of us are. The instances where we feel envy are the ones where the characters are in reality, it's as simple as that. They're not thinking about all the other things they need to get done, or how they don't fit in, or about that one awkward moment from 3 years ago. They're doing one singular activity, and that's it. They're trurly at peace.

We envy that.
