and if i say something
No fic animation this time because I'm actually writing it, so take this TFZ thing instead, lmao. And, yes, I kept their white hair because I believe in their white, fluffy hair supremacy, yes.
Two bits of the process shown on my dumb Ko-Fi.
Panels it's based on under the cut:
Tbh if a "Jason Kills The Joker" fic ends with him regretting it I immediately don't gaf. What if he got his revenge and killed his murderer and he was happy and he danced in the streets and he went home and ate a nice dinner and lived the rest of his life at peace. What then. "Oh, the hollowness of revenge-" has been done to DEATH already I'm boreddddd.
He deserves a princess bride style revenge. Check the box, move on. There’s no ‘oh woe is me i’ve wasted my life chasing vengeance!’ He did what he set out to do, and now he’s finally free to do something else. He’s a new man!

Anyway, the people who hate Seeing Red/thinks it's only for Jason don't even like Mia. I'm not even convinced the majority of the people who wave that story around have actually read it. The takes I see surrounding it have convinced me that the people using a MIA CENTRIC STORY (one of the very few there are) as a means to make her a Damsel in distress to bash Jason are genuinely illiterate.
It's spelled out for you. The words are right there on the page. They're circled in a neat little bubble. If you read the words you could understand the story. The story about Mia. A story where Mia confronts Jason, a mirror of her experiences. On purpose. Winnick did that on purpose. He meant for that to be the reading. Which is why he wrote it that way. The person she could have been without Ollie, and a support system, and Roy there to argue for her right to not be Speedy, and Dinah there to understand the struggle of a street kid. The bad ending to her story. He is like her. That's the point. That's the point of the story being told.
If you go out of your way to not look at the evidence laid out in front of you so you can cover your ears and proclaim that actually Jason is inherently evil and has no good traits and could never be a victim (because obviously the millisecond you externalize your trauma - on characters that aren't random petty criminals, because no one gives a shit when other vigilantes do that- you are no longer a victim obviously) and if he IS a victim it's because he stole it from Mia or Selina or whoever (because obviously no one else is allowed to have that specific trauma and Jason is a Bad Victim who doesn't deserve to represent the experiences of REAL victims and it's not like they showed him being graphically assaulted on panel which is obviously the only way to get a story across. Subtext? What's that? That's just implied! No one cares about details several authors across several reboots have gone out of their way to insinuate. Why would that matter?) And Mia is A Good Person so she can have absolutely nothing in common with Jason because he is A Bad Person.
What does that reading contribute to Mia. How does taking literally one of the only stories that center Mia outside of Green Arrow and making it about her being mildly inconvenienced by a bad guy of the week (or worse, straight up lying and saying he tried to kill her and she was so so scared and she's traumatized for life) with zero exploration of the themes and questions that Jason asks uplift Mia? How does calling HER story a means to prop up Jason add to her character. You are allowed to hate Jason but don't PRETEND to care about Mia to do it. And maybe get off tumblr and go back to high school English class if you're struggling to identify the most textbook case of a narrative foil to ever be written.
When it comes to the queer Jason headcanon i really don't think Jason would come out to the batfamily. I dont think hed care enough to want them to know about his personal business, and if he did come out it would only be to select members (dick, steph, duke)
You HAVE to have audacity to be Robin though that's just part of the mantle
ever since i was a child i knew i wanted to get overinvested in "bad victims" in every form of media and get my heart broken by their endings over and over and over again
I love Jason Todd so fucking much is the thing.
CAN U PLEASE DRAW JASON TODD PLEASE (if u haven't already)
HERE ANON, had it in the vault
He is the biggest of bois.
Actually why did Bruce autopsy Jason. He didn’t die of systemic organ function or toxicity or any kind of pathology like. The point of autopsies is to find out the cause of death, and I think watching an explosion and then digging someone out of it gives you a pretty good idea. Autopsies are inherently invasive, and aren’t recommended if they’re not necessary. They’re so viscerally upsetting. Bruce is so paradoxically obsessive and avoidant, he didn’t track Jason down to stop him or to save him, but he couldn’t let him rest without knowing exactly what made him tick. Without getting inside and putting him back like a puzzle. Hmm.
The autopsy is one last violation, one last use of Jason’s body for Bruce’s selfish obsessions.
There’s nothing I dislike more than when Sheila/Jason’s search for his birthmom is erased or forgotten. It pisses me off whenever it happens and she’s left out of flashbacks and adaptations and it is honestly just as bad when discussions and fan content ignore her completely. Jason wasn’t halfway around the world for funsies ok, he found out he found out he had a living relative and went to great lengths to try and form a relationship with her. You can’t dismiss her role in the story without destroying his character’s motivation. Erasing Sheila erases the choice Jason made to try to save her. He wasn’t being reckless or prideful or hotheaded all he wanted to do was keep someone safe. He died in the most blatant classic heroic way: protecting someone out of the goodness of his heart. That matters (and Batman knew about it because Sheila lived long enough to tell him) so stop ignoring it whenever you talk about what he’s like or how he died.
I think Jason should make a really good fake Nightwing/Dick in a pinch but it should be avoided because if he goes at it too long he will forget his own name about it and start going by Dick
yeehawww
strong bois
every batfamily member would fail to recognize suicidal tendencies my evidence is jason todd
do you think in those moments when jason recognized hid father had attacked him he felt at peace because he was prepared to die even if he wished he didnt have to knowing his father picked the joker over him
