The atmosphere change is tangible, and those eyes are straight daggers. Raihan’s nostrils flare as he takes a deep breath to steel himself to it. No use letting himself be provoked when this guy was obviously having some kinda real bad day. Of course, his attempt at reverse psychology was probably a bit tasteless too but he didn’t think it’d be taken this far.
Guess this was why they always said to ‘never meet your heroes’.
“Whoah, man! I think we got our wires crossed somewhere.” he holds his hands up, feigning a defense. “You talk big, and I know you deliver. I’ve been watching since I was a kid.” Indigo league battles were a pretty big deal back then, before Galar cinema was still trying to get on its feet. Sometimes there were subtitles, sometimes there weren’t. Either way, Raihan hadn’t been able to get enough.
“I don’t know what all this money thing you’re going on about is, but wanting a battle has nothin’ to do with that. I got a little overexcited, is all.” he’ll take a step back, not wanting to bow his head in defeat but also wanting to extend some modicum of respect.
“Green. Surpasses what everyone could’ve expected. Overcomes the biggest shadows and makes it beyond anyone’s wildest dreams. That’s you, isn’t it?” he hopes that his attempt at sincerity isn’t going to bolster this guy’s ego so high up that he’ll never even give Raihan the time of day. But he’s gotta try, the best way he knows how. “You helped me keep goin’. Even after losing to that one person, I kept thinking ‘what would he do.’ He didn’t let a little slip-up stop him from reaching higher. Right?”
His hostility remains thick at first, no hint of escaping his expression. He avoids eye contact, looking anywhere but at Raihan and giving the impression that he’s bored or uninterested. When it doesn’t let up as people usually did; realizing that he was impatient and didn’t have the patience for them, he finally targets attention back onto the leader. A dullness replaces annoyance, trickled lightly with a sensation of discomfort.
Being a role model wasn’t easy. Learning of the people who looked up to him existed outside of Kanto was somewhat..intimidating, to say. He knew as a child he was a prodigy of success. Young trainers throughout his region idolized the strength he had, the relentless accomplishments and the passion. It spread to Johto, but the other areas of the world? He wasn’t sure if they followed his steps and interviews, or if they just knew his face through the collections on Red.
“Yeah, that’s me.” Lashes fall over his vision and he takes a moment of recollection to himself, silently allowing seconds to pass. He’s not entirely sure why he feels uncomfortable, but he would never dare to let that out and shown. At least not through admittance and vulnerability. “Right. I’m not sure what you expect from me right now, and I’m also not sure why you’re sucking up. Maybe I’m just that desirable.” Ending with a boost to himself to secure his discomfort away, he opens his eyes back onto him. “Anyway. It’s getting late and I have things to do.” He doesn’t. “The phones have everyone’s numbers in them, so you have mine already. Let me know when you want to buy me a drink.”
alcremtea:
“Oh yes, in fact. I’m terribly near-sighted, and I seem to have misplaced my spectacles.”
She wasn’t at all- however, she wasn’t above playing along just to see how he’d respond. After all, who was to say she couldn’t have a little fun? It wasn’t just kids that liked to play a few tricks.
“Could you help me, boy?”
He rolls his eyes, instantly sighing as if he was a fresh teenager off the block. “What’s with you older people and losing things. If you just put them back in the same place every time, you wouldn’t have this issue.” As he speaks, he glances around himself, expecting her item to be somewhere in sight, misplaced.
“Where did you have them last.”

oh man, they were right – that was another pokemon they smelled! this guy was probably a trainer, which… could be good? if he was as laid back as the rest of the people who had ended up on the island, maybe mew could… well, have another little piece of home here. that would be nice. they might even be friends.
the growlithe makes a “over here!” noise, and mew instinctively rears back slightly. even if they knew the culture was different here, it was hard to ignore thousands of years of ingrained responses to being seen.
they blink at the growlithe once more through the hole they’re peering out of, then lean to the side to reveal themselves to the trainer.
Honestly, he expected Growlithe’s nose to find something interesting to her tastes. In most recent weeks, she’d sniffed out fair shares of leftover snacks or small items that she could carry around and present proudly. On the offhand occasion, she’d come up with someone’s hat or shirt, which he found amusing, though nevertheless discarded. If he ever thought for one second she’d unearth what she did, he might’ve been more supportive of her silly endeavors and encouraged her searches long ago.
With the sight of Mew’s face falling into his line of vision, it’s almost as if the world around him shrinks, becomes irrelevant. Internally, he hears words of the past recited, playing against his mind as if they were freshly spoken.
Mew is a legendary Pokemon, one of the rarest and the most powerful! We’ve tried to find it over the years, but we’ve never come to find a trace of it, except for one time. Dr. Fuji, a good friend of mine, and his research team found a hair. I’m not sure what he did with it, but..I think he said he wanted to use it for..something..Ah, what was it? My old brain can’t rattle the answer! What remains though, is if you or Red ever managed to find that Pokemon, I think I’d be the proudest grandfather I could ever be. Everyone would think of it for the rest of time!
His breath hitches and pupils round themselves, expanding and honing in on the living fable. Nostrils flare, and from the inside, a compulsive desire engulfs itself in impulsive flames. Though he wasn’t at home, there was still fame, glory and respect waiting for him here, presenting itself. If he could catch that, then everyone would adore him. All the trainers on the island would be nothing compared to his accomplishments. Nothing but envious shadows in the contrast of his ever shining light. Not even Red could best him then.
“Flamethrower.” He coldly tosses the command at his Pokemon as he begins to shrug his jacket off. While she takes the go ahead, pries jaws open and sends a stream of flames to Mew, he watches them carefully. Despite not having any Pokeballs, he would manage to catch it, one way or another. And then they would all see the greatness and how he prevailed, but everyone else failed.

The tug to his sleeve catches his attention and he furrows his brows forward, prepared to turn around and scold whoever it was with the idea in mind that they could touch him. Irritation evident in the pools of his gaze, his vision comes along not a stranger’s face, nor a nerd’s (travis), but a person he knew and was very, very accustomed to.
Almost instantly, his expression shifts and a smirk carries itself across rising lips. “Took you long enough. What? Did you get lost along the way like some sort of loser?”

can i unlock team yell members and have them stand outside green’s house as they blast screamo music all night?
YESSSSSSSSSSSS.
this is a pretty big issue for me actually.
and not just because it’s really amazing to see what other muses say, think and feel about your muse when they’re not around but because I WANT SOME CONTINUITY. i am trying to create a continuity for my character where everything that isn’t an AU has feelings and actions making sense depending on a timeline and people they know and love. actions have consequences. relationships and events change people.
roleplay without that is… well, repetitive… & not very fulfilling to me.

@rcanines liked for a starter
“A pokemon trainer, are you?” Opal raised a brow as she looked at the boy and his growlithe, nodding. He wasn’t any gym challenger she’d ever met, but the world was a wide one- many regions, and many more people. Even one old like her couldn’t know everyone. “It’s always good to see that spark in a young trainer’s eye.”
Lips part and he stares at her, dejectedly. While he was raised to know never to disrespect elders and to give them the benefit of the doubt, somewhere along his late adolescence he ditched the idea, treating them as he did everyone else. Which wasn’t the best, so to say.
“Lady, did you lose your sight already?”
