My backup blog for this account is rebe1-female, if I ever stop posting I've probably moved there (or left this hellsite lmao). I can't remember my password or get into my email for this account.
donât remember anyone ever nailing a rat to the door of a Salvation Army building and they have actual discriminatory policies about who they provide services to
The poor models at Louis Vuitton.
Update (07/11/14): This blew up and there were a lot of comments on the post and people messaging me to ask what happened. Since Iâm not a runway model, I decided to ask one. I asked Kayley Chabot (whose rĂ©sumĂ© includes more than 100 shows in the four fashion capitals) if she had ever had to deal with uncomfortable shoes during fashion month, and hereâs what she told me:
âThe shoes are undoubtedly the worst part of fashion month. Iâve gone down the runway as my feet have been bleeding and torn apart from ridiculously small shoes. Almost every show Iâve ever done, the shoes have been much too small, either cutting off circulation and molding your foot to the shoe, or blisters and blood everywhere. Generally at the end of fashion month, I donât recognize my own feet. Theyâre covered in blisters, cuts, everything. So yes, all of our feet look like that by the end of the month! (If a girlâs eyes look rather glossy during a show, sheâs probably holding back tears.)â
So there you have it. Runway modeling may seem like a walk in the park, but it sounds like it can be a pretty excruciating, blister-filled walk.
A couple of these look like sprained ankles that they still have to walk on (upper and lower right).
Everything about those photos is horrible.
itâs not just the models suffering. these are the shoes these companies are going to sell to women to wear to work, parties, dates, shows, etc
the only way to break sexist stereotypes is to say âIm a woman and i dont adhere to thisâ not to say âIm not a woman because i dont adhere to thisâ
why did grown adults fall for sex positivity and hookup culture so hard and encourage itâŠas if left wing men donât literally invent âfree loveâ movements at least 3 times a century in order to sleep with as many young women as they want with no consequences
why do they always cite suicide rates when it comes to lesbians turning down tims...
abusive men threaten suicide to make women obey them
Oh I forgot to tell you that a drag queen and his friends harassed me a couple of weeks ago !
I was on instagram and saw a video about a âfamousâ french drag queen who does his horror burlesque shows in Paris. Lots of people left comments, some in his favour and some saying it was wrong and he was a freak. Mostly men.Â
I said it was misogyny, a caricature of women and laughing at womenâs oppression, turning it into a joke or a game for men and that was pretty much that.Â
But the man the video was about, the somewhat famous drag queen pictured above, saw my comment and replied to me; he was offended that I said it was misogyny, he tried to taunt me, I didnât reply. Annoyed by my lack of response, he sent me a lengthy private message, pretty much throwing a fit, telling me that I was obviously a very angry woman with issues and did not understand all the good he did to us silly ladies ; he said thanks to him women learn about their âfemininityâ and become âreal womenâ, because he teaches them burlesque. He said he helped some women with breast cancer by reminding them to be feminine. He then ordered me to keep quiet and to delete my account, ending by saying he was absolutely furious by what I had said. All of this because I left a comment saying I thought it was misogyny. He didnât go after the men calling him a freak, oh no, but a woman with an opinion ? Oh. My. Lord !Â
So I responded to him in a very⊠vehement and sharp way, basically telling him to fuck off, that he was indeed a misogynist and that he just made his case worse, told him not to contact me again then I blocked him. He screenshoted it and published it on his facebook official page, giving my instagram address, encouraging people to come and attack me. Thatâs how upset he was over one woman not endorsing him and not seeing him as her saviour. I started receiving tones of abusive message, mostly people telling me to âdelete my accountâ, to âshut the fuck upâ, âassholeâ, that I was âthe real misogynistâ and a âhomophobeâ (?) but mostly they called me a crazy, hysterical, insane woman who should be sent to a mental hospital. Just boring misogyny covered in glitter to make it sweet. They also said I should be âashamedâ of attacking such a pure soul apparently. I laughed at them and blocked them one by one.Â
Now, my instagram account was public at the time, itâs not a political account, I just mostly post pictures of nature, of my hiking and camping trips with my dog in the mountains or on the coast.
Since there were no pictures of me I guess they couldnât call me âfatâ or ââuglyâ so they commented on my pets, saying my dog looked like a rat, that my pet rabbits were going to die, that animals were my only friends because everybody hated me and -obviously not understanding the concept of backpacking- saying I was a âtrampâ, a âbumâ living in a tent in the middle of nowhere. They donât like homeless people I guess. Then the pseudo-famous drag queen came back on another official account of his, commenting on my pictures, encouraging the comments saying my pets were going to die and sending me private messages again, calling me âan old ladyâ, âlonelyâ, âbitter, âcrazyâ blablabla. Blocked him again, made my account private cause I didnât want to manage all this shit and waiting for them to move on before I made it public again. Reported his post on facebook for harassment, facebook answered it wasnât harassment, reported again, second review said it still wasnât harassment, a bunch of my feminist friends reported it and finally a good facebook moderator deleted the facebook post about me confirming that it was indeed harassment. I still took a look a the comments before it was gone, it was pure misogyny, pretty much proving my point by saying how much I needed âa good dickâ to set me right. What a nice community of egotistic manbabies wearing make up and glitter.Â
âFemme, rĂ©veille-toi ; le tocsin de la raison se fait entendre dans tout lâunivers ; reconnais tes droits.â
â Olympe de Gouges, « Femme, rĂ©veille-toi ! »
I really wish more people took the mother wound and toxic female family relationships more seriously. These are the people who weâre told to trust with ourselves, our children, etc.
But then they turn around and hurt them, and weâre told that it couldnât have happened because they are women.
Not saying that statically speaking men arenât worse. They really are.
But I only know a handful of women without fucked relationships with their moms.
And barely anyone believes me when I talk about the abuse I suffer from my mother and sister.
âEveryone has their own truthâ is so intellectually lazy, itâs what Kajsa Ekis Ekman calls âliberal resignationâ - you see it in a lot of other contexts, like debates about âsex workâ, some women like it and some donât and both are valid! some children are really trans and some are gay kids with homophobic parents and thatâs fine! just let it be, donât worry, let people figure it out for themselves, everyone has their own truth, which conveniently frees you from having to think deeper about the implications and consequences of the things you support, you can pretend to support everyone in every way and feel good about yourself without having to form a personal opinion or make any personal moral choices because that sounds scary.
âWhat are your pronouns???â just sounds like âso where do you go to church???â in my head
âFor, as scientists acknowledge, âwomen are the race itself, the strong primary sex, and man the biological afterthought.â In human cell structure, womenâs is the basic âXâ chromosome; a female baby simply collects another âXâ at the moment of conception, while the creation of a male requires the branching off of the divergent âYâ chromosome, seen by some as a genetic error, a âdeformed and broken âXâ.â The womanâs egg, several hundred times bigger than the sperm that fertilizes it, carries all the primary genetic messages the child will ever receive. Women therefore are the original, the first sex, the biological norm from which males are only a derivation. Historian Amaury de Riencourt sums it up: âFar from being an incomplete form of maleness, according to a tradition stretching from the biblical Genesis to Aristotle to Thomas Aquinas, femaleness is the norm, the fundamental form of life.ââ
