So two things about me;

1. Im aroace

2. Im a music major

This leads to the discovering of music history facts that constantly astonish me. Like, robert schumann falling in love with clara when she was a minor, them engaging in a forbidden romance and communicating mainly through notes delivered by their mutual friend and him composing pieces for her to play on tour. Then there was brahms's infatuation with clara and his distancing from them cuz he didnt want to ruin their marriage. And then there was berlioz writing a symphony about a character (based on himself) being so obsessed with an opera singer that he basically went crazy and od'd on opium. The last two movements are literally representing hallucinations from this od and depicting the singer as an old hag driving him insane.

And then meanwhile, my favorite composer, dmitri shostakovich, wrote music while under pressure from the russian government and each of his pieces conveys the pure instability and rage he felt.

Glad to know my priorities are reflected in my tastes in music.

Am I the last person to know that Clara Schumann was on one of the German paper notes???

Like I was at a performance today and they had a backdrop of collaged money from different countries and as soon as my friend and I walked in we were like. That's Clara. That's definitely 100% Clara Wieck-Schumann's face on some of those miscellaneous notes. And it turns out that we were not collectively hallucinating it and Clara was indeed on the German 100-mark bill for quite a long time:

I believe that this version of the German bills is in use since 1989 and until 2002 when they all started using euros instead. If you're interested in the conversions between some famous and fun little Germans, 1 Clara is equal to 10 Gausses (who's on the 10-mark bill) and 1/10 of the Brothers Grimm (who are on the 1000-mark bill). And of course, there are tons of other bills and thus other rules for conversion that are open to you to freely explore. Fascinating, if you ask me
