I'll never get over how fucking ridiculous the post-hunger games dystopian YA trend was. Every book was "society is sorted into *rolls dice* 5 groups based on *picks card* astrology signs. It is illegal to *throws dart at wall* sing. The main character is special because she *spins wheel* knows how to read. Two boys are in love with her."

Hunger Games was a dystopian series. The copycats don’t seem to understand what dystopian fic is and wrote adventure novels that imitated it. That’s why they all read so weird. It’s like someone watching their first ever space opera, mistaking it for a romcom, and writing a romcom variant of it without understanding what they’re doing or why those tropes were there.

all debates abt the artistic merits of fanfiction fail to recognize the purpose of fic. you don’t write fic to be published or to learn how to construct a narrative although you can use it to develop style. you write it so that your friends will message you “bestie you’re utterly deranged for this one im eating dirt”

two years later... 

I’m re-editing, re-vamping, and re-releasing Recon! Since coronavirus eliminated basically any chance of a season 2, we’re releasing updated episodes with sound tracks, new edits, and hopefully some bonuses too! I’m doing this for fun and mostly on my own, and although I have earned a film degree in the last two years, I’m definitely not a production studio, so these will be at my leisure, but hopefully once every week or two weeks! We will be telling the story of season two via prose sometime in the future, but until then, please enjoy~
