The one thing I hate that my mom has ingrained into me is the saying āsomeoneās had it worseā I hate that phrase. I catch myself saying it all the time. If every time something happens to you, you say that, youāll never process it properly. At least thatās how itās been with me. The abuse Iāve been through, the trauma, everything, itās been pushed aside by one simple phrase. Yes, itās important to acknowledge the misfortune of others but itās also important to do the same for yourself.
Iāve pushed everything down to a point all of those horrible things feel normal. It only phases me when I tell other people, the way they react reminds me that I have a right to call myself a victim, that even though I might be lucky now doesnāt mean I canāt mourn over a stolen childhood. It doesnāt mean I canāt be upset. I just canāt let it rule me.
