He’s Kenough. Seriously though, he’s just as traumatised as the rest of the crew but he never gets enough recognition for this. He was abandoned at a young age for being uncool, and now his entire life revolves around being cool, even when usually there isn’t anyone who’d care to see it. One headcanon I saw that I really like and fits this is that his real name is Duane Dibley, but he told the other he didn’t have one because it’s not a cool name. That’s just another reason why ‘Back to Reality’ must’ve been awful for him (I mean it was awful for everyone, by design, but I digress).

sorry this has been so late, starting a new school, huge workload, holiday, holiday cut short from mystery illness, trying to get appointment for said mystery illness etc, I’ve been busy to say the least! Thanks for your patience :)

Ace Rimmer

*desperately pushing my attraction to Rimmer into a box* SO. At first sight, he seems like Rimmer but just not traumatised at all and with everything going right for him. HOWEVER, he was 8 when their oaths diverged, meaning his family bullied him up till (and probably a little past) that point, so he still has a fair amount of the trauma that rimmer does. Also, he smokes, which is probably a coping mechanism for him, which contrasts nicely with Rimmer’s hatred for smoking. Plus the fact he was so willing to abandon his own reality in favour of discovery on a highly dangerous prototype? Smells like there’s something he’s avoiding, or rather, even though he has so much influence and is everything his parents wanted for him, he still feels stifled.
