I love how sarah and us are on the same page, telling readers to check out the BC
Imagine telling readers that the bonus chapter doesn't matter when the author herself would immediately correct that claim and prob laugh at Elriels for saying such fucking bullshit.
The truth is that they don't like how the bonus chapter ended, so instead of engaging with what was actually written, they invented the narrative that it isn't important.
A bonus chapter is still written by the author and publisher. It's still part of the story she's choosing to tell. You don't have to like the implications, but pretending it suddenly isn't relevant because it doesn't support your preferred outcome is your denial, and funny how for all the shit they talk about the bonus not meaning anything they cling to the almost kiss, the one you know Azriel said was a mistake.
If your argument only works by convincing people to ignore official material, maybe the problem isn't the bonus chapter 🤷🏻♀️
Using Feyre and Chaol as examples to defend Bryceriel is honestly hilarious because it completely misses the point.
Before their stories reached their conclusions, SJM did leave readers wondering who they'd end up with. Why? Because their arcs weren't finished. Feyre's romantic endgame wasn't confirmed until ACOMAF. Chaol's future remained open because his journey wasn't over yet.
That's the entire point.
When a character's arc is still ongoing, SJM keeps the endgame under wraps.
Bryce is the exact opposite. Her arc is finished.
After Bryce's story concluded, SJM didn't tease Bryce and Azriel. She didn't wink at the audience or hint at some future reveal. She repeatedly confirmed Bryce and Hunt are mates and that Az and Bryce are not mates, and when asked about the theory, her reaction made it seem like she couldn't believe it was still being brought up. This wasn't some elaborate long con or "gotcha" waiting to pay off in a future book. She clarified it multiple times before and after Bryce's story was complete. The distinction isn't difficult. They are just fucking delusional.
An unfinished arc leaves room for mystery. A completed arc doesn't.
Bryce isn't being kept secret. She isn't being saved for a surprise reveal. She isn't secretly still in the running. She was ruled out by both the text and the author herself.
And now they're claiming Bryce and Hunt aren't married.
At this point, it's become a pattern. They take a line, strip it of its context, and then build an entire theory around the misinterpretation while acting like they've uncovered some hidden truth. The problem is that context matters.
Bryce and Hunt are canonically married. The text makes that clear. Pretending otherwise doesn't make the theory stronger, it just requires ignoring what's actually on the page, which we know they do 99.9%
It's honestly impressive how consistently they manage to miss the point. Every time the books or SJM provide a clear answer, instead of accepting it, they twist the context until it fits the conclusion they already wanted.
Definition of confirmation bias.
And no, building a large platform, recruiting followers, or creating websites doesn't make an argument more credible. Popularity isn't evidence. Headcanons aren't evidence. The books and the author's repeated statements are. The only characters SJM has legit teased are Gwyn and Elain, that is it, two characters who have unfinished arcs and actually in his story. Could she write a new character, sure, but I can bet it will never be Bryce, she literally made a face of disgust for being asked.
Ship whoever you want. That's what fandom is for. But there's a difference between saying, "I enjoy this pairing," and insisting it's secretly canon while ignoring the text and repeatedly dismissing the author's own confirmations.
Also, SJM has never, ever publicly shut down a potential ship before its story played out. Yet she did exactly that with Bryceriel. That should've been your clue. She meant what she said. There isn't a secret code to crack or a conspiracy to uncover. Some of y'all are just so committed to the fanon that you're out here creating apps, websites, and recruitment drives instead of asking why your ship can't stand on its own without all the campaigning. Neither Elriel nor Gwynriel has ever had to do that because both are legitimate possibilities within the narrative. That's how the author wrote them. Bryceriel isn't even playing the field, it was explicitly ruled out.

"Maybe the tattoos were just tattoos. Maybe the blue was just blue."
Girly pop
"Maybe the rings were just rings. Maybe the merch was just merch. Maybe the tote bag company making tote bags was just that, Maybe the tattoo artist making tattoo designs was just doing their job. Maybe the articles where elain is the youngest sister were just articles. Maybe the Bambi sweater was just a sweater and literally so on (the list is literally endless)"
Funny how every detail suddenly has to mean nothing, unless their side is the one making the connections.
Speculation is apparently only acceptable when they're the ones doing it. The moment anyone else notices patterns or has fun connecting dots, it's mocked
The hypocrisy isn't subtle anymore. It's just funny.
My thoughts on what has been revealed:
1. What Katie did was absolutely wrong. Not only to the artists but to fellow commissioners and others in the fandom. I also need people to remember that some are good at hiding things from others. Sometimes it takes time for *all* things to come to light and some of this information a lot of us are only learning about recently.
2. No one is or has been protecting Katie. In fact, I know a few who have also called her out but somehow that isn't being talked about. Also, if you knew about her behavior over the years, but stayed silent, how are you any better?
3. Looping a group of people together based on ONE person's actions is NOT OKAY. Calling that one person and their behavior out is fine but don't group people together when you don't even know the full story.
4. While others are using this as performative outrage against a group of people, our side has helped take care of the issue(s) BEFORE this mess even made it to Tumblr.
5. Blocking people is NOT harassment/bullying. It was literally created for the purpose of blocking anyone who you don't agree with, like their content, any number of reasons.
6. Artists should ALWAYS be respected and paid. Their time is valuable and should be properly compensated for it.

I said I would rather not bother my peace with this since I did my part, but let me just say this.
I don't regret extending my empathy for someone who I witnessed get publicly bullied multiple times, because that's who I am. I extend empathy to others while their intentions is their own.
And because I don't wish it upon anyone. I know what that feels like from firsthand experience in the past 5+ years. I always tried to have my friends' back and supported people who were treated unfairly and cruelly, because it can fuck you up if you didn't have a support system. Because let's not forget people receive death threats in this community and there are people that find absolute joy in harming others. And by saying that, it does not absolve Katie of what she did, I have defended countless of Gwynriels and Eluciens and other people. I don't need to make a list.
What I will not do, not now or ever, is excuse someone who screwed over co-commissioners (my friends included) and artists by not paying or treating them unfairly based on what has been shared (because I was not in spaces where those issues took place or addressed). I will never forgive her for it. As someone who has been commissioning for a long time and has wonderful friendships with artists, my stance is known so I don't even need to say this. Again, we all had different experiences with the same person and we were not aware of the issues other people have picked up on (not until it was brought up just a day ago).
Instead of supporting the commissioners who were affected by this, what I'm seeing is blame. "Guilty by association" is not a fair verdict to throw around when some of those commissioners covered the costs of someone who screwed them over. Those commissioners spent time and money wanting to give something beautiful to the community. It's human to give someone the benefit of the doubt or hope they'll do better so are you going to blame people for showing an ounce of decency and humanity? Again, it depends on your experience with that person. The topic is shifting into harassment and blame rather than focusing on how we protect those artists and commissioners and that is unfair to me.
I have nothing further to say or would rather protect my peace because everything that needed to be said and done has been accomplished.
To add:
If you have a personal score to settle with someone, if you had a bad experience with someone, you have every right to speak about your experience, but I am not your scapegoat in your angry rampage. Especially if you have not interacted with me, don't know me personally or what my own experience was or my level of interaction with other people. I don't owe you an explanation for that.
Some are also basing their accusations on assumptions that everyone knew about their experience or should've have known. That isn't a fair assumption (or rather multiple false assumptions) to make and they have no right to accuse people based on assumptions made in anger or to project their own experience on others assuming that they all saw the same side to someone. And no, I have no logical reason to give the other side the benefit of the doubt when they have actively harmed me and my friends way before Katie showed up and none of you are going to erase what was done to us over the years. You are justified in your anger at someone who caused a lot of problems, but you are not justified in directing it on a whole or propping me up as a scapegoat to make yourself feel better.
I want to say a little something about fate and free will. A lot of people in this fandom really do not understand these concepts either in life or as literary devices.
Everyone has free will. Period. Unless you’re Ella Enchanted or something and under a spell of obedience (and even she has LOTS of free will,) we all make all our own choices and those choices have consequences. What free will does not give us is the gift of foresight. We cannot see the future. We cannot know what the consequences of our choices will be, we make them with the best information we have and then we see what happens.
Fate is not a removal of our choices. It is not a prison or a pair of handcuffs or a slave master. Fate is the force that CAN see the future. Fate sees the path *we have chosen* to walk. Fate knows where that path leads, and it puts things for us on that path to help us. Sometimes it’s gifts like a lucky chance or an unexpected benefit. Sometimes it’s lessons that teach us something we are going to need later. But the choice of the path is always ours. The consequences are always ours too.
An author *is* Fate to their characters. And free will too. The act of writing is choosing the path, knowing where the path will lead, and putting interesting and valuable things on that path - for the characters and for the readers to find.
Choices made in anger, resentment, or fear are NOT free will. That is you being controlled. Either by the forces of emotions you have not mastered, or by other people who can use those emotions to manipulate you. This is the path of the Jedi. To master one’s emotions, not so that you don’t feel any. But so that they don’t control your free will and you can’t be manipulated with them.
When you have any character who is dealing with big emotions they haven’t processed or healed, you have someone who is making or will make some very bad choices. Fate knows this. Fate will still put things and people and experiences in their path, dark as that path may be, that will help nudge them towards the light. In some stories this may be a fated mate. Fate knows the future. Fate knows what you will need. Fate will keep offering it to you until you see that you need it (a story with a happy ending,) or you die (a tragedy.)
Fate isn’t your master. Fate is the one that keeps holding out a hand.
the way they have convinced themselves that nuala and cerridwen are this important and relevant to the story
it's not that they can't be, but they are simply not
and they do this while choosing to ignore gwyn and emerie, it's absurd
Azriel giving Elain Truth Teller is an act of pity not love or trust.
Just look at the way he speaks to her when giving it over to her.
the marketing team to acotar still very strong!! brazilian publisher that will release acotar 6 in brazil just made this promotional post as a "remembering" unforgettable couples of the series, and they put elucien there, so cute this couple of MATES, isn't it? 🧡💘

So we got Steph saying how the e/riel part of the bonus chapter gave her the ick basically and how it's not written in SJM's endgame fashion and then the other podcast where she said she was intrigued by gwynriel and would like to see how this could go, and antis yap about how "she's not a gwynriel though".
Well, flash news, she sure ain't e/riel 💀
This is so embarrassing for them 💀
PS: Let's not forget how they crow about Steph not being a true friend with SJM and in general shit on her all the time but now suddenly they "defend" her against the bad gwynriels who "harass" her, their perfomative outrage passed in the stratosphere.
