Wei Wuxian waved as Sizhui disappeared into the distance, along with Wen Ning and a few of the juniors he was friends with. He sighed, turning back to his husband.
"Lan Zhan, they grow so quickly..." he sighed dramatically, putting the back of his hand to his forehead and falling into his husband's chest. "How do they manage it?"
Lan Wangji hummed in answer, wrapping his arms around Wei Wuxian and picking him up.
"Lan Zhan!" Wei Wuxian gasped, wrapping his arms around Lan Zhan's neck. "We still have to night hunt, er-gege, and I'm sure there was a- ah!"
He pushed Lan Wangji from his neck, glarirng at him.
"Everday means everyday," Lan Wangji says. Wei Wuxian gasped as his wrists were tied and Lan Wangji kissed him dearly.
Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian traversed into the forest, with Wei Wuxian complaining with every step he took. "How could you be so cruel?" he asked Lan Wangji, "I was defenseless and now you've basically made my legs into mush! How am I going to defend myself, huh?"
Lan Wangji stared at him for a moment before picking him up. "Better?"
"I... yes." Wei Wuxian sighed and collapsed into Lan Wangji's arms. "Lan Zhan, how are you going to fight though?"
"With ease." The two continued in, Wei Wuxian directing Lan Wangji to the source of resentful energy.
Lan Wangji stopped, letting Wei Wuxian down.
"Do you feel that, Lan-er-gege?" He asked, holding onto Lan Wangji's arm. "Why is there so much energy?"
It was distinct — Wei Wuxian was sure even a mortal could feel the energy, overbearing and heavy in the air. Beside him, Lan Wangji put a hand on Bichen ready to defend Wei Wuxian from any threat.
The center of the energy was an array. It took up meters of the forest floor, and Wei Wuxian could barely take it in.
"It's runes to transport things, no doubt, but not even teleportation talisman use up so much energy. Lan Zhan, do you know what it is?" He asked. He looked to where Lan Wangji's gaze lie. He let go of Lan Wangji to look up close. "Oh! I recognize a bit of that, from that one old book you brought me — the one that had the terrible hand writing. Alternate universes? Transportation to alternate universes? How is that possible?"
Wei Wuxian leaned forward, momentarily forgetting he was weak, and found himself unable to pull back in time.
"Lan Zhan!" He gasped, trying to hold onto him. Lan Wangji rushed to catch him, and together they stumbled into the array.
"Wei Wuxian, wake up!" The shout came from outside his room, followed by a pounding on the door.
Groaning, Wei Wuxian turned to his side and answered the demand. He took a look around the room and his eyes widened — where is his husband?
Hurriedly, he sat up to look for him. Wei Wuxian frowned, feeling his legs good as new. He never healed them because he loved how sore it was, so why..?
He stood up, catching sight of a mirror. The room was strange, odd bits everywhere. He had ro carefully weave through the mess on the floor to even get to the mirror and when he did, wow. Thankfully, he looked just how he did back when he studied at Cloud Recesses, with his hair a bird nest.
Lan Wangji would comb his hair, he thought mournfully. He didn't want to navigate this mess in this strange place. Before he could do anything, a buzz came from a table. He jumped, looking at the offender. A black... thing... with a glass surface. Curious, he tapped the screen and oh holy god, it lit up. What was this trickery? What runes were used?
On the glass, there was a message from someone named "Jiejie <333" (which surely can't be who he thinks it is, even though its entirely plausible).
Jiejie <333: Come over to my dorm tonight, I made lotus pork rib soup!
Curious, he tapped the phone again and it showed a bunch of buttons, each labeled with numbers. He tapped one and it appeared in the top bar. He examined the screen more, realizing that he would have to input a passcode.
He huffed, turning away from the screen to look into the closet.
What... what was this?! Not even he was so improper to dress in such little clothes! Where are the robes? Why was it simply undershirts and pants?
He dug through the drawers, coming empty handed. He tied his hair up before putting on a long sleeved shirt, then a coat, and tied it up tightly to try and hide how little he was wearing.
Lan Wangji would take better care of him than this!
He took the glass screen, intending to pick his way through it and find out how to use it.
Wei Wuxian left the room, peering out into the hall. He could find Jiang Cheng (who surely woke him up, no one was more violent than him) and ask for a robe.
Instead, he saw people wearing nothing but underclothes! Panicked, he ran through the halls making sure his coat didn't open.
"There you are, Wuxian! ...Why are you wearing a coat?" Jiang Cheng was also wearing practically nothing. Wei Wuxian downturned his eyes, ignoring Jiang Cheng. "I have your bag ready for you. God, your hair looks terrible today, Professor Qiren won't like that. You better fix it before class."
Wei Wuxian nodded, taking the bag from Jiang Cheng and leaving the building. He had to find Lan Wangji!
Running through the campus, he looked hurriedly for his husband. Perhaps he should attend class? Lan Wangji would surely attend.
With the bare bones of a plan in his head, Wei Wuxian could calm down. He took a breather, pulling out that glass thing again. He typed out different passcodes, starting with Lan Wangji's birthday to Shijie's birthday. Finally, it opened up.
He tapped another button that had a cylinder with a curved triangle coming out of it.
He scrolled through before finding Lan Wangji's button! Excited, he tapped it and stared. What was he to do now? He read through the messages to find a clue.
Wei Wuxian: Lan Zhan! whens our paper due???
Lan Wangji: Next week. Do not be tardy.
Wei Wuxian: Awwwwe come on!! dont you wanna talk more???
Wei Wuxian chuckled, it's the same old husband of his.
