Jason Todd acts like he has some kind of moral high ground for wearing a helmet. he is, of course, correct in that assumption
“Jason, you’re not better than the rest of us just because your wear a helmet” sorry, i can’t hear you over my lack of concussion
A winddown doodle back in February of Jason Todd, cross posting from Twitter per request of @ekleiipsis ! :)
Everyone celebrating RH2025's cancellation with absolutely zero critical thought COME ONNNN. Doesn't it concern you that Lobdell can work at DC for YEARS after confessing to sexual misconduct and Tom King gets put on every book under the sun despite being ex-CIA and pushing his misogynistic American nationalist bullshit into everything he writes, but the second a trans woman who they KNEW tweeted like this (she's been tweeting like this for years, they knew what sorts of things she posted and what politics she held BEFORE they hired her) steps out of line (to express that she has no empathy for a man who would have celebrated her death in turn) her book is cancelled and she's fired? Probably doesn't help that people had been calling for a boycott since before the comic came out, I guess to protect the dignity of their tragic little fictional man, and then it got review bombed by people who didn't even read it.
People keep saying that you have to maintain a degree of professionalism when you're working with DC, but clearly that isn't true if sexually harassing someone in front of crowds of people isn't grounds for termination. You have to face that the standards DC holds for women, especially trans women (as well as other marginalized people) are different than the standards they hold for cis straight white men who get placed on every big title no matter what they do, and we need to be angry about that instead of celebrating a trans woman being fired because you didn't like how she wrote Jason Todd after one issue.
Duties and responsibilities
Nightwing seems a little distracted. Perharps if he wasn't, he could've noticed the danger right next to his loved ones.
I can't get over how delightfully competent Jason is and how funny it makes his early Red Hood days. This 18 year old who literally died once is so good at being a criminal that criminals on the other side of the country that have been doing this for years feel threatened by his gun smuggling operation. What an icon
dramatic mf
Both Dick and Jason should be more skilled than Bruce and be able to win a fight against him. I will die on this hill
Dick canonicly won against Bruce several times already and most writers do say that Nightwing is surpassed Batman, at this point. It's mostly Batman glazers who have the most problem with accepting that fact
Jason had a clear upper hand over Bruce in Under the Red Hood when he first returned to Gotham and his training surpassed Bruce's training, with Jason winning against the best of the world as well as some former Bruce's teachers. It's only later on when writers started nerfing Jason hard to glaze Batman (and because DC don't like Jason, lets be honest here)
I can't tell who should realisticly win their fight against eachother but they definitly should be better than their father
Red Hood: The Lost Days #5 - "After School Activities" (2011)

uhhh tried something new
Jason and his mama
Whenever I feel like I'm being too absolute about DC's 37 year-long intention to rewrite Jason into The Bad Robin From The Bad Family (read: classism), I end up reading what the actual authors thought about their work + it's like.. they don't even try to hide it lmao. Specifically, their prejudiced impression of the 'street urchin', how much they subscribe to Wolfman + Dixon's post-ADITF retcons to Jason's character + competency, + how they all rewrite him as 'worse' in order to retroactively justify his death.
they would NOT fucking have communication skills that good
#technically they know and understand each other better than anyone else alive#but they communicate that in the most fucked up insane unnecessarily complicated way and think thats normal
My tepid Jason Todd take is that he should be the tactician in his team ups more often than not. One of the things that really stuck out to me in his Robin run/early post resurrection era is that he knows when he needs stack the deck in his favor and does a very good job at it. Less "Jason Todd runs into danger and needs to be saved bc he's Reckless™" and more "everyone assumes he runs in without thinking but in reality he already figured out what schemed he needs to get out of this relatively unscathed"
I need to know what comics he does this in
I haven't read everything, but Under the Red Hood and Lost Days are 10/10 in that regard. Batman (1940) #410 has him getting out of dodge by anticipating Two Face's shtick
"Bring back Winick to write Jason" "Bring back Lobdell"
Bring back Rosenberg. He may not be the greatest comic writer out there but if anyone shoud write Jason Todd it's him. He openly said Jason was his favourite Robin, he had read all of his 80s comics and he said Batman: The Cult was his favourite comic (And it's a comic book with one of the best potrayals of Jason as Robin)
Plus we already know he understands and likes his character from what we saw in Task Force Z. Afterall, he was the one who give us this amazing panel
