Headcanon that Shen Jiu moves eerily quietly (years of depending on pickpocketing and/or shoplifting to not starve). He tends to just appear behind people and it really freaks most of his sect sibling out.

(Yue Qingyuan can move just as silently, but he conciously makes his presence louder because it fits the image of a strong, but approachable sect leader better.)

This time, the aim for crescendo is determined. Like the lovers who have tasted intimacy and devastation desperately trying to reclaim what sense they could have, but with a sharp tangg, the crescendo is once again, not achieved. The tune ends with the similar notes as it started. But somehow they are longer , as if the qin is sighing at the loss of what the lovers couldn't have. It ends like it played...incomplete yet with a decisive note of not continuing.
