Kubera is everything i ever wanted in a story.
On February 23rd, i picked up Kubera: One Last God on the enthusiastic recommendation of a redditor. I caught up with the series yesterday, 26 days later. Not bad pacing for something with 700+ chapters! Now on to the recommendation!
The verdict: 10/10. Masterpiece.
Holy. Moly.
(So this cracked my top 2. Im sorry Tokyo Ghoul Re - You had a good run.)
I'll be honest - i actually dropped thus series once because i thought the art was bad. It rough in the beginning but it does get MUCH better pretty quickly.
This series had me on the edge of my seat for 100% of the ride. The first arc is the slowest - but once it gets going it just never really stops. I've never read something with such consistently good writing from start to (presumed) finish. I cant think of a single episode/arc i didnt like.
Weirdly, it sort of gave me the same feeling i got when reading Asoiaf the first time. The story is just so grand and far-reaching, with characters' plots weaving into and out of each other. It is all so satisfying to just see how all of the puzzle pieces slowly come together.
There are 8 main characters that get deeply explored (the equivalent to PoV characters in asoiaf) and like ... 70+ other named important characters. Its a LOT. Because of this it feels unlike any other manga/manhwa i have read.
I've never seen an author WEAPONIZE foreshadowing like this. Ughhhhh.
The series is *still going* - but the current arc is called "Finale". Estimates for how much story is left vary wildly. My guess is there will be another year or two of weekly releases - including epilogue content. I will be fiending for this on a weekly basis until it ends. I cant wait.
Currygom you absolute goddess.
PSA: You can read almost the entire series (minus the most recent 6 or so chapters) on webtoon.
